Who We Seek
We are expanding our Federal Solutions Engineering team and are looking for a top engineer to join us. This team works closely with U.S. Federal agencies interested in leveraging BigID’s platform. You will use your knowledge to influence customer decisions, provide insightful solutions, and drive successful proof-of-value implementations within the federal procurement environment. With strong technical capabilities, critical and creative thinking, and a passion for fast-paced problem solving, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running.
What You’ll Do
Serve as the technical subject matter expert for BigID’s platform alongside the Federal Sales team during agency calls, presentations, and procurement processes.
Deliver tailored product demonstrations to technical and executive federal stakeholders, including CISOs, program officers, and procurement teams.
Design, build, and run hands-on POCs/POVs in federal customer environments, operating within classified and sensitive data environment requirements where applicable.
Own responses to federal RFPs, RFIs, security questionnaires, and technical capability statements.
Handle technical objections and competitive positioning in real time with federal customers.
Consult on best practices and provide direction for solution architecture and design within federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA, ITAR).
Stay current on competitive solutions, products, and services in the federal space.
Drive customer success with real-world recommendations tailored to agency mission needs.
Partner with post-sales teams to ensure every federal customer realizes the value of the BigID platform.
Work with Product Management to capture and articulate federal customer and prospect product enhancement feedback.
What You’ll Bring
Minimum of 5 years in a pre-sales engineering or consulting role within an enterprise software or federal systems environment.
Prior experience working with or within U.S. Federal agencies or defense-related organizations.
Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks: FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, ITAR, and CMMC.
Broad understanding of enterprise data architecture, privacy, and security technologies.
Experience with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Hands-on scripting and API skills — comfort with Python, Bash, and REST APIs to build custom integrations, automate POV environments, and troubleshoot in air-gapped or restricted networks without vendor support tooling.
Experience with one or more of the following: RDBMS systems; NoSQL data stores (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB); Hadoop technologies (HDFS, Hive, HBase); or cloud technologies (AWS GovCloud, EMR, S3, DynamoDB, Redshift, Azure Government, Azure file and blob storage).
Ability to plan, execute, and close out a proof of concept with minimal assistance and oversight.
Strong troubleshooting ability and a methodical approach.
Ability to describe complex technical concepts to diverse audiences: executives, business stakeholders, and technology practitioners.
Excellent customer-facing communication and organizational skills, and a desire to share knowledge through strong documentation and RFI/RFP responses.
Composure and executive presence under scrutiny — able to stay credible and calm when challenged live by agency security architects or in a room of senior stakeholders, defending technical claims with evidence rather than deflection.
Self-directed with high ownership — thrives with minimal oversight across long federal sales cycles, sets priorities across concurrent agency engagements, and follows through on commitments without being chased.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Nice to Have
Active Top Secret clearance.
Federal procurement fluency — working knowledge of contract vehicles and buying paths (GSA MAS, SEWP, GWACs, OTAs) and experience partnering with system integrators, resellers, and channel teams to move opportunities through agency procurement cycles.
Prior experience with Identity and Access Management or Data Loss Prevention tools.
Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
