About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on QA Engineer to join our growing Quality Engineering team. This is a highly hands-on role requiring excellent technical skills, strong analytical thinking and a proactive approach to quality.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering & Test Strategy
Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of QA strategy, testing standards and quality engineering practices.
Promote Shift-Left testing by participating in requirements analysis, backlog refinement and solution design sessions.
Review business and technical requirements to ensure they are testable and complete.
Identify quality risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
Support the establishment and maintenance of quality gates throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Manual Testing
Design, prepare and execute comprehensive manual test cases and test scenarios.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support
Exploratory Testing
Smoke and Sanity Testing
Validate business processes, workflows and application behaviour.
Execute testing across multiple environments and browsers where applicable.
Ensure all testing evidence is accurately recorded.

Validate RESTful APIs and system integrations.
Perform request and response validation.
Verify authentication, authorisation and error handling.
Support testing of integrations between Appian and third-party platforms.
Analyse logs and API responses to support troubleshooting and defect investigation.
Test Planning & Delivery
Participate in Sprint Planning, backlog refinement and estimation sessions.
Prepare test plans, test scenarios and execution schedules.
Estimate testing effort for new functionality.
Maintain full traceability between requirements, test cases and defects.
Support delivery planning across multiple releases.
Defect Management
Identify, document and manage software defects throughout their lifecycle.
Perform root cause analysis alongside development teams.
Validate defect fixes and regression impacts.
Ensure defects contain sufficient evidence for efficient investigation.
Monitor defect trends and recommend process improvements.
CI/CD & DevOps
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Support continuous testing practices.
Execute automated smoke tests following deployments.
Support release validation activities.
Help improve deployment quality through automation.
Production & Release Support
Participate in release readiness activities.
Perform post-deployment validation.
Support investigation of production incidents.
Assist with root cause analysis and hotfix validation.
Support production release sign-off where appropriate.
Test Data & Environment Management
Prepare and maintain appropriate test data.
Coordinate environment readiness for testing activities.
Support environment troubleshooting.
Ensure data integrity throughout testing.
Non-Functional Testing Support
Support and contribute to:
Performance Testing
Load Testing
Accessibility Testing
Compatibility Testing
Security Testing
Working alongside specialist teams where required.
Continuous Improvement
Recommend improvements to testing processes, tools and frameworks.
Contribute to QA standards and documentation.
Mentor junior QA engineers.
Share knowledge and best practices across the team.
Promote a quality-first engineering culture.
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience in Software Testing or Quality Engineering.
Strong experience across the complete Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).
Excellent manual testing skills across enterprise applications.
Proven experience developing automation frameworks from scratch.
API testing experience using Postman or equivalent.
Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Git, GitHub or similar version control systems.
Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
Experience using JIRA, Azure DevOps or similar test management tools.
Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
Nice to have
Strong experience with Selenium WebDriver.
Experience using Cucumber and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
