AI at BambooHR

At BambooHR, we’re all about setting people free to do great work, and we believe AI is a powerful partner in that mission. We’re leaning into intelligent tools to streamline our workflows, giving us more time for high-impact innovation. We look for curious, forward-thinking people who are ready to explore how AI can elevate their work and help us reimagine the future of HR.

Essential Job Duties

BambooHR is on a mission to set people free to do great work. We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to build and grow Expense Management: how an employee captures an expense, how their manager approves it, and how finance and payroll get it reimbursed and reconciled.

You'll own the product and business line end to end, from discovery and strategy through delivery, iteration, and growth. Part of that means shaping what we build ourselves, what we deliver through an embedded partner, and what we can make disappear entirely with AI. We expect this product to be delivered in part through an embedded partner, so you'll be our primary product counterpart to that partner: defining the seam between their platform and our product, holding them to their API and support commitments, and keeping the whole thing feeling like one BambooHR experience to the customer.

If you're an experienced Senior Product Manager who wants to launch a new product, work closely with an embedded partner, and build something in expense that couldn't have been built two years ago, we'd like to talk to you.

You will:

Develop a deep understanding of expense management through research and regular contact with customers, CX, accountants and bookkeepers, internal stakeholders, and our partner.

Frame the opportunity clearly and turn it into a strategy your team, your stakeholders, and executive leadership can repeat back to you.

Prioritize ruthlessly against that strategy. Cut scope to its most compact coherent state and ship in small, frequent releases so customers can use something early.

Start every customer problem with "what if it was magic?" A receipt that becomes a reimbursement with no form to fill out. An agent that handles the routine approvals and routes the exceptions to a human. Then work backward to what we can ship this quarter and learn from.

Own the partner relationship at the product level: what they provide, what we build, where the data boundary sits, and how we protect the customer experience when their roadmap and ours disagree.

Get comfortable in the plumbing. Expense touches payroll reimbursement, general ledger export, multi-currency, corporate cards, and tax treatment, and you'll be turning all of it into actionable specifications for your engineering team.

Measure whether your solutions worked, quantitatively and qualitatively, and change course when they didn't. Know your adoption, time-to-reimburse, auto-categorization rate, and revenue numbers without looking them up.

Lead a trio of dedicated, smart people to their career best, and own the quality of what you ship together. World-class software in every release.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

You feel aligned with the BambooHR values

5+ years as a product manager with a track record of shipping products people use

Product experience in at least one of: expense or spend management, payroll, fintech, accounting, or payments. Corporate cards, reimbursement, or receipt capture is a plus.

Experience with embedded products, APIs, integrations, platforms, or partner-led ecosystems

AI is already woven through how you work, not sprinkled on top of it. You use it to sift research and data down to what matters, you prototype and test far more ideas than you could before, and you apply taste to what comes out. If you've shipped AI capabilities in a product customers use, tell us about them.

High agency. You define the problem yourself, you go get the prototype or the data pull rather than filing a request for it, and you make the call on ambiguous tradeoffs at your level.

Experience leading a product trio. This role has no direct reports; you lead through influence with your engineering and design counterparts.

You think hard about design decisions and know how to get to a simple interface

You can explain a product decision and the reasoning behind it. You're comfortable deciding without consensus, and you can persuade.

Deep experience with qualitative customer insight and quantitative customer data, used together
