Senior Staff Software Engineer - AI Governance
The Challenge
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the AI Governance Engineering team, you will play a critical role in shaping and building OneTrust's next-generation AI Governance platform. You will help transform complex AI governance, compliance, safety, and agent runtime governance requirements into scalable platform capabilities that enable organizations to confidently build, deploy, and operate AI systems.
As a senior technical leader, you will influence architecture, engineering direction, and execution across multiple teams, helping translate product vision into durable, high-quality solutions with meaningful customer impact.
Your Mission
Serve as a deep technical expert across the AI Governance platform, capable of contributing to and troubleshooting any major component of the system.
Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and platform evolution based on a strong understanding of AI Governance, distributed systems, and enterprise-scale software.
Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to translate long-term vision into actionable technical roadmaps.
Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and highly available services supporting AI governance, observability, controls, and agent runtime management.
Provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives and engineering teams, driving alignment and execution.
Mentor engineers and elevate engineering excellence through architecture reviews, design guidance, and best practices.
Tackle ambiguous, open-ended problems and drive them from concept through implementation.
Champion performance, reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence across the platform.
Drive adoption of emerging technologies and engineering practices that improve platform capabilities and developer productivity.
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Operations to deliver customer-centric outcomes.
Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous platform improvement.
Foster strong cross-functional partnerships and act as a trusted technical leader across the organization.

Your Experience Includes
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
12+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-grade distributed systems.
Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
Proven experience designing and operating highly scalable, secure, and resilient web services.
Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
Experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience working with modern AI platforms, agent frameworks, and LLM-powered applications.
Familiarity with one or more AI deployment ecosystems such as Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry, Google Vertex AI, Agent Core, or similar platforms.

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience building AI Governance, Trust & Safety, Security, Compliance, or Observability platforms.
Expertise operating large-scale SaaS platforms in cloud environments.
Experience with agentic AI systems, runtime governance, policy enforcement, evaluation frameworks, or AI observability solutions.
Strong understanding of enterprise security, compliance, and governance architectures.
