We are looking for an experienced, developer-focused Senior Android Engineer to join our Universal Components team.

Job Description

You UNDERSTAND developers! You know what they need, how to talk to them, how to make their lives easier, and what turns friction into delight. You recognize when a framework, library, or product provides an exceptional developer experience.

As a Senior Android Engineer on the Universal Components team, you will leverage that developer-first mindset to build, architect, and maintain our open-source UI components, SDKs, and libraries. You will serve as an internal and external steward for the technologies you work with daily, shepherding our platforms forward and directly improving our entire developer journey—from onboarding, quickstarts, and documentation to direct support in developer channels.

Collaborating in a cross-functional environment alongside developer relations, onboarding, growth, dashboard, and core SDK teams, you will act as a go-to domain expert to provide a world-class experience for our component libraries.

The most vital qualifications for this position are deep Android engineering expertise, strong empathy for developers, self-direction, and a collaborative mindset.

What You’ll Be Doing

Building Modular UI: Architecting and developing composable, production-ready UI components from the ground up using Jetpack Compose and traditional XML views where necessary.

SDK Leadership: Directly shaping, developing, and maintaining our open-source Universal Components Android SDKs and client libraries.

Authoring Developer Resources: Writing, curating, and polishing technical content, including tutorials, guides, sample applications, and comprehensive API documentation.

Community & Advocacy: Championing Auth0 by engaging directly with the open-source developer community, providing domain knowledge, and offering technical assistance.

Domain Expertise & Mentorship: Serving as the go-to technical expert internally and externally, conducting thorough code reviews, and upholding high quality and UI testing standards across our mobile libraries.

Knowledge Sharing: Representing the company by sharing your technical expertise at conferences, tech events, community forums, or through technical publications.

Maintenance & Modernization: Troubleshooting, debugging, and fixing complex issues across client libraries while keeping pace with modern Android architecture and platform standards.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

5+ years of professional expertise in native Android development using Kotlin & Java.

3+ years of hands-on expertise building production interfaces with Jetpack Compose.

Proven ability to seamlessly translate design mocks (e.g., Figma) into clean, modular, and accessible Compose code.

Strong track record of developing reusable Android UI libraries, SDKs, or widely used application architectures.

Deep understanding of Android frameworks, core architecture components, and the broader Android ecosystem.

Experience deploying applications to the Google Play Store or publishing packages/libraries to artifact repositories like Maven Central.

Deep understanding of CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and running automated UI and unit tests in continuous integration environments.

Deep knowledge of writing, running, maintaining, and debugging complex mobile applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable experience authoring developer documentation (tutorials, blog posts, or guides).

The ability to be self-directed, take ownership, and work independently while thriving in a globally distributed team environment.

Bonus Points If You Have

Knowledge or hands-on experience with Design Systems (building component libraries, design tokens, or multi-platform visual consistency).

Experience with iOS development (Swift & Objective-C) or cross-platform architectures.

Active contributions to open-source projects or experience maintaining public open-source repositories.

A personal technical blog or published articles on popular Android development platforms.

Knowledge or experience in the identity and access management (IAM) space.

Experience working in remote, distributed engineering teams.
