Senior Associate, Operations Safety
About DoorDash Labs
DoorDash Labs is an independent robotics and automation team within DoorDash, focused on transforming last-mile logistics at scale. Our work reaches millions of people — and we're building the operational foundation to make that possible safely.
About The Role
As a Senior Operations Associate on the Operations Safety team, you will be a hands-on contributor to the safety systems, incident response, and SOP processes that support DoorDash Labs' autonomous products. You will execute day-to-day safety operations, analyze incident and operational data, and work closely with engineering, product, and field operations teams to help ensure safety is built into every phase of development and deployment. This is an individual contributor role for someone who thrives at the intersection of operational rigor and cutting-edge autonomy.
What You'll Do
Support incident response — triage and help resolve safety incidents; document findings and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action follow-through
Maintain and improve SOPs — draft, update, and maintain standard operating procedures; help ensure compliance across Labs programs and flag gaps to the team
Track safety analytics & reporting — build and maintain dashboards and reports on operational safety metrics; surface trends, risks, and recommendations to the team
Execute on-site and remote safety operations — monitor operations, run audits and safety checks, and escalate issues promptly across remote and on-site functions
Support cross-functional safety work — partner with engineering, product, legal, and field operations to help embed safety into product design, launches, and scale
Develop training materials — create and update training content and job aids for operators and field teams; help onboard and coach new team members
What We're Looking For
Required
4+ years in operations, safety, or a related field — autonomy, robotics, aerospace, or defense experience a plus
Experience supporting safety or operational systems in a regulated or safety-critical environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain risk data and findings clearly to cross-functional partners
Strong analytical mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities
Participate in on-call rotation and promptly respond to on-call events with urgency and rigor on nights and weekends.
Preferred
Familiarity with safety management systems (SMS), ISO 45001, or equivalent frameworks
Experience developing training programs or instructional materials.
Experience with autonomous systems, robotics deployment, or fleet operations at scale
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Jira, and SQL
Why This Role
Help build the safety function at one of the most ambitious autonomy teams in tech
Direct impact on systems that affect millions of real-world interactions
Broad cross-functional exposure and a clear path to grow within Operations Safety
