People Compliance Lead
The Role You'll Play
We're hiring our first dedicated compliance lead for People & Culture (P&C) at Playlist, the company behind Mindbody, ClassPass, Booker, Kite, and EGYM.
Our programs support health, wealth, and wellbeing for teammates in more than thirty countries, from a self-insured medical plan and a 401(k) in the US to locally built benefits everywhere else.
As our compliance expert across P&C, you'll steward our people policies and handbooks, lead the compliance calendar, spot regulatory change early, and raise risks before they become problems. Benefits and retirement compliance make up a large share of the work, from filings to plan documents. You'll report to our Head of Global Benefits and partner with our brokers, advisors, P&C leadership, and teams across P&C.
You're curious by default. You ask "How do we know?" before you ask "What if?" You build systems that last, balance rigor with judgment, and understand that employee trust is the whole asset.
What You'll Own
People Compliance Program
You'll manage the compliance calendar across P&C. You'll govern every deadline, including benefits, retirement, and leave, while our benefits partners and other program owners handle the work behind them. Everyone will have a clear view of what's due, who owns it, and when it's done.
You'll know when required trainings and other compliance actions are needed, including harassment prevention training where state or local law requires it, and you'll maintain the completion records.
When something looks off, you'll raise it early, turn it into a plan, and follow each finding through to closure. Regular self-audits and clear decision records mean anyone can understand why we made a call, long after we made it.
Policies & Handbooks
You'll steward our people-policy inventory and employee handbooks, so every policy has an owner, a current version, and a review date.
You'll write new policies and refresh existing ones alongside policy owners and Legal, checking that what's on paper matches how we work.
Regulatory Change & Reporting
You'll watch regulatory change across people topics, from employment and leave to benefits and privacy, with Legal, our broker, and outside counsel. Then you'll translate it into updated policies, processes, and training.
Each quarter, you'll brief P&C leadership on compliance status, open findings, emerging risks, and the roadmap ahead.
Benefits & Retirement Compliance
You'll oversee compliance for our health, welfare, and retirement plans, including Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) requirements, Form 5500 filings, the annual plan audit, participant disclosures, committee operations, and monitoring of our advisor and recordkeeper.
Our benefits policies, plan documents, wrap documents, and summary plan descriptions sit with you, and you'll align them with how we administer our programs.
You'll guide Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security governance for our self-insured plan, bringing policies, the breach notification protocol, and business associate agreements together into one governed program. You'll set up and facilitate our HIPAA privacy and security committee, with our broker and vendor partners as standing contributors.
You'll set eligibility standards that hold steady across plan documents, vendor systems, and our human resources information system, so decisions land the same way for every participant.
Leave, Time Off, & Accommodations
You'll design leave policy frameworks and vendor standards while our analysts administer cases, and you'll confirm our time off programs meet statutory requirements in every country where we operate.
For accommodations, you'll define how we document, escalate, and stay consistent, partnering with the teams that manage individual cases. You'll also support our accommodations committee.
Privacy & Data Stewardship
You'll oversee the operational side of privacy for benefits and people data worldwide, covering HIPAA and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) obligations, vendor agreements, training, and incident response alongside Legal and Security.
Vendor & Operational Excellence
You'll build trusted relationships with brokers, consultants, advisors, carriers, and other P&C vendors, and check that they deliver on what we agreed.
Our library of standard operating procedures is yours to grow, so our programs stay governed as broker teams and vendor contacts change. You'll also create the intake forms, templates, playbooks, and handoff checklists that make our work repeatable.
When a third-party administrator or data feed changes, you'll plan ahead with our broker so coverage and data flow without a gap.
Global Governance & Transactions
You'll map people compliance and benefits requirements across the countries where we operate and confirm we're meeting them.
When we acquire or integrate a company, you'll coordinate benefits and people compliance due diligence with our broker and vendors. You'll guide decisions on plan liabilities, what merges versus terminates, and continuity of coverage across entities, including Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) continuation coverage.
For entity transitions and new markets, you'll surface liabilities early and have the P&C compliance checklist ready from the start, so coverage stays intact.
Risk Programs
With our broker and our Corporate Risk team, you'll help shape risk-adjacent programs like business travel accident cover and how workers' compensation interacts with leave and disability.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Your partners include our brokers, consultants, advisors, carriers, and vendors, and internally across Legal, P&C Operations, P&C Business Partners, HR Technology, Corporate Risk, Payroll, Procurement, Internal Audit, and Security. Together, you'll make our programs work in practice the way they're designed to.
Where This Role Partners
You'll know what's required and when, and connect it to the right team. Employee relations investigations, the whistleblower hotline, leave and accommodation casework, and the scheduling and delivery of training stay with the teams who handle them today. You'll support those teams with frameworks and risk guidance.

Your Expertise
You bring deep benefits compliance expertise. You've worked with ERISA, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, Form 5500 reporting, mental health parity, the transparency requirements under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, and the realities of operating a self-insured health plan.
Employment compliance is familiar ground too, from the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to state leave and training rules, required notices, and handbook standards. You know when to bring in Legal.
You've prepared Form 5500s and seen plan audits through to resolved findings. You can read a contract, interpret a plan document, assess vendor performance, and spot the gap between what's supposed to happen and what's actually happening.
Privacy isn't one law, and you've worked across enough jurisdictions to know the questions to ask. You turn requirements into clear, practical processes people can follow.
Your Approach
You document decisions and the reasoning behind them
You ask thoughtful questions and stay curious about why things work the way they do
You look for the root cause behind a problem
You know when to improve a process, when to rebuild it, and when to retire it
You build trust and influence across teams, whatever your title
You balance detail with judgment
You write as clearly for an executive as for the people who manage the process
Your Tools
You've worked in modern human resources systems, ideally through an implementation, migration, or major transformation.
You're a power user of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. We use Claude heavily, and you'll use AI to speed up research, documentation, analysis, and decision-making.
Why Join Us
Our benefits and people policies support teammates through some of the biggest moments in life, from a new baby to a hard diagnosis.
You'll build the systems and controls behind those programs and help shape how Playlist operates as we grow.
