VP Engineering, Ongoing Monitoring
ABOUT THE ROLE
Tide is hiring a VP of Engineering to lead the engineering organisation behind Ongoing Monitoring. You will report directly to the Chief Data and Technology Officer. Ongoing Monitoring protects our members by detecting fraud, financial crime and regulatory risk across every transaction Tide processes. The engineering, data science and platform capability behind it is one of the most technically demanding estates at Tide.
You will be accountable for the engineering strategy, organisation and execution across all Ongoing Monitoring value streams: real-time transaction monitoring for bank payments fraud, acquiring fraud, Anti Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing, sanctions and prohibited activities monitoring, and the tooling our financial investigators depend on. That means ML models in production, agentic AI inside regulated workflows, and multi-market screening infrastructure that stands up to regulatory scrutiny.
This role sits at the intersection of regulated risk operations, near real-time platform engineering and applied AI. Our first line operations teams are the primary internal customer, our second line sets the risk appetite, and our regulators set the bar. We need someone who can raise detection quality and reduce fraud losses while driving the cost of monitoring per member down, and scale agentic solutions where a wrong answer has consequences for a member and for Tide.
As VP Engineering, Ongoing Monitoring you will:
Set the engineering strategy for Tide's fraud, financial crime and ongoing monitoring platforms
Lead engineering across backend, frontend, data science, ML engineering and analytics engineering, primarily based in Hyderabad with product leadership split between Hyderabad and London
Lead managers and senior engineers, and build the leadership bench underneath you
Work with multiple stakeholders across risk, operations, business, design, product and engineering
Own the Decision Engine and Decision Intelligence Platform as shared capabilities, unifying domestic and international payment flows
Own the model lifecycle end to end, from development through backtesting, shadow deployment and staged rollout to production performance monitoring
Scale agentic AI in regulated workflows, including migrating Ongoing Monitoring agents onto Tide's shared agentic infrastructure and holding the line on our agentic governance framework
Deliver measurable risk and efficiency outcomes: lower fraud losses, higher automated alert throughput, and a falling ongoing monitoring cost per member
Build the operating model that connects first line operations, second line risk and compliance, payments and acquiring engineering, KYX, AI Platforms and data science leadership behind one roadmap
Apply principles so we build once, deploy globally, and keep market-specific logic isolated
This is one of the most important engineering roles at Tide. Ongoing Monitoring is where we prove that trust scales, across every transaction we process. You will shape how quickly we protect our members, how confidently we enter new markets under our own licences, and how far applied AI can compound into a lasting advantage in a regulated environment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience leading engineering organisations in fraud, financial crime, risk or another real-time decisioning domain
Strong track record of turning platform investment into measurable outcomes across fraud detection and mitigation, unit economics reduction and workflows automation
Experience taking machine learning from development into production at scale, and owning model performance once live and fast iteration of model development
Experience operating in a regulated environment, working with second line risk and compliance functions and with regulators
Strong judgement across organisation design, delivery, platform strategy, data architecture and technical quality
Ability to lead distributed teams across multiple markets and align several functions behind one roadmap, operating model and set of priorities
Experience deploying AI or agentic systems inside regulated workflows, with a clear view on governance, evaluation and human oversight would be a bonus
