Test Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Python Test Engineer to help build and maintain our automated test suites. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers to write clean Python scripts, execute automated test cases, and learn our Gerrit-based code review workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Test Scripting: Write and execute basic automated test cases using Python and test frameworks like pytest or unittest.
Code Reviews via Gerrit: Submit code changes for peer review using Git and Gerrit workflows, incorporating feedback to update patch sets (git commit --amend).
Test Maintenance: Assist in updating existing test scripts to reflect new feature requirements and software updates.
Bug Reporting & Triage: Run daily automated test runs, analyze execution logs to identify basic failures, and log detailed bug reports in issue tracking systems.
Continuous Integration: Help maintain test triggers connected to Jenkins/Gerrit to ensure code changes pass preliminary automated checks.
Qualifications & Requirements
Python Foundations: 0–2 years of programming experience with a solid understanding of core Python principles (data types, loops, functions, file handling).
Testing Basics: Familiarity with test concepts (unit testing, integration testing) and exposure to tools like pytest or standard unittest.
Git & Version Control: Fundamental knowledge of Git commands (git clone, git commit, git push, git rebase) and an eagerness to learn Gerrit review processes.
Code Hygiene: Understanding of clean coding standards, with exposure to PEP 8 linters like flake8 or black.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proactive attitude toward troubleshooting failures in test logs.
