Technical Content Lead
The Technical Content Lead Opportunity
The Office of the CTO for Strategy & Customer Zero is seeking a creative, articulate, and thought-provoking Technical Content Lead to translate complex technological initiatives and enterprise security architectures into dynamic, engaging content.
In this role, you will be responsible for crafting high-impact messaging for three primary stakeholder audiences:
The Customer Zero Team: Highlighting Okta’s internal technology adoption and helping the world understand how we ‘drink our own champagne’, depict real-world deployment lessons, and portray architectural best practices. Key messages will be delivered through Okta TV, webinars, technical whitepapers, and industry conferences by the Customer Zero team.
The Executive Sponsor Program: Creating executive-ready briefs, thought leadership pieces, bespoke talking points, poignant content and relationship nuggets, and strategic messaging that resonate with Okta’s strategic customers and their CxO’s. Key messages will be delivered primarily through 1:1 peer-to-peer CxO relationships, with occasional onsite Executive Briefings and roundtable discussions.
The CTO for Strategy: Partnering with the CTO to produce thought-provoking whitepapers, vision documents, FAQ’s, and strategic briefs that articulate long-term technology roadmaps and market positioning.
You will partner closely with Marketing, Legal, Sales, and Customer Success to strike the perfect balance between technical rigor, brand alignment, and customer-facing impact.
What you'll be doing
Multi-Audience Content Creation: Write, edit, and publish dynamic, high-quality technical content, whitepapers, strategic briefs, blogs, and FAQ’s tailored for executive, internal, and customer-facing audiences.
Customer Zero Storytelling: Partner directly with the Identity engineering and architecture teams to turn real-world internal deployment use cases into practical guidebooks, reference architectures, and customer-facing narratives that facilitate platform adoption and build market trust.
Executive & Strategic Support: Collaborate directly with the CTO for Strategy to translate high-level vision, product direction, and zero-trust AI architectures into clear, compelling narratives.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Marketing, Legal, Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to align key technical communications with corporate brand standards, compliance requirements, and go-to-market strategies.
Customer Zero & Adoption Storytelling: Turn real-world internal deployment use cases into practical guidebooks and customer-facing narratives that facilitate platform adoption and build market trust.
Executive Sponsor Enablement: Develop strategic messaging assets and briefing materials to support high-touch engagements with key enterprise sponsors and customer executives.
Content Strategy & Standards: Influence content architecture, messaging frameworks, and publication workflows to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across all strategic communications.
What you’ll bring to the role
Expert-Level English Proficiency: Expert-level written and verbal English fluency with exceptional storytelling capabilities, demonstrated through a portfolio of published long-form work for executive and technical audiences.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a technical writer, security communications analyst, or corporate technology writer within an enterprise SaaS, Cloud, or Cybersecurity environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven track record of successfully partnering with Legal, Marketing, Sales, and Executive leadership teams to manage complex review processes and sensitive communications.
Technical Aptitude: Ability to digest complex cloud, enterprise security, API, and digital identity concepts and articulate them accurately for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Creativity & Storytelling: Must have a creative angle to storytelling, with the ability to dissolve the technical jargon into concise and compelling content without losing the original intent. Must be able to challenge a narrative to test for the best approach, while also being able to meet publication standards and other guidance when required.
Project Ownership: Self-starter mindset with strong ownership traits, able to lead multi-faceted documentation projects from concept to completion under dynamic timelines. You will be a team player who excels at working with multiple stakeholders, each with a unique perspective.
