About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Manager to oversee our transactional tax compliance process. In this role, you will manage multi-jurisdictional tax filings, resolve discrepancies through general ledger reconciliations, and serve as a key point of contact for tax audits. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize our tax systems and ensure the business complies with evolving sales, use, VAT, and excise tax regulations. The Tax Manager is a hands-on role.

The role will report to the Senior Tax Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

Tax compliance – Review monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns (including Sales & Use, VAT, GST, and gross receipts taxes) to ensure timely and accurate filing.

Account reconciliations – Reconcile indirect tax liability accounts during month-end closing, identify variances, and prepare necessary journal entries.

Audit – Gather documentation, pull data transaction reports, and assist in managing state, local, or international tax audits and notices.

Systems & automation – Maintain and update transaction tax software (e.g., Avalara) integrated with our ERP system to ensure accurate tax calculations.

Exemption certificate management – Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of customer tax exemption certificates.

Advisory support – Research complex indirect tax issues related to new product launches or business expansions and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.

Manage relationship with service providers.  Lead role for state filings compliance.

Provide recommendations to help streamline existing processes and procedures.

Assist with special projects on an as needed basis.

Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Build effective relationships within Dragos.

Qualifications:

Eight to ten years of progressive indirect tax experience in a public accounting or a multi-national corporate tax department.

Strong knowledge of U.S. state and local tax regulations (SALT), nexus rules, and/or international VAT/GST regimes.

Experience working with ERP accounting packages (NetSuite preferred) and tax compliance engines (Avalara preferred).

Experience working for a cybersecurity or SaaS company.

Practical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

MS Excel and Word proficiency.

Strong attention to detail, self-review to yield a low error-rate, organizational skills and analytical thinking are a must.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, manage timelines, and deliver upon deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and collaborate for problem resolution with internal staff in both the finance team and other departments, while maintaining positive working relationships.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:

Salary:  $140,000
