Strategic Finance Lead
The Strategic Finance Lead drives strategic, commercial, and investment decision-making across X, bigly labs (Xbl) and the broader Dis-Chem ecosystem. The role combines rigorous financial analysis planning, forecasting, investment appraisal, and the development and maintenance of high-level financial and operational performance KPIs with the commercial enablement of Xbl initiatives, ensuring that all offers, campaigns, and collaborations deliver measurable commercial and customer value.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR?
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another quantitative or commercial discipline (required).
Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, CFA, CA(SA), or related) is advantageous.
7–10 years' experience in analytical or commercial finance roles such as Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Equity Research, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or commercial and partnership management within retail, health, or financial services.
Proven track record of negotiating, structuring, and managing commercial and partnership agreements.
Strong capability in financial modelling, valuation, pricing, forecasting, and ROI analysis, with a deep understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Solid understanding of loyalty economics, customer engagement models, and partner monetisation strategies.
Experience managing cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Working knowledge of CRM, data analytics, and campaign measurement tools (Power BI, Excel, SAP, or similar).
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?
Support quarterly and annual planning by translating high-level targets into operational budgets, in collaboration with business units.
Develop frameworks and models (qualitative and quantitative) to assess business problems, support decision-making, and guide strategic direction with financial rationale.
Lead the commercial planning and enablement of Xbl initiatives by defining pricing, value exchanges, and commercial frameworks so that all revenue generating initiatives deliver measurable ROI.
Negotiate, structure, and manage commercial partnerships by aligning incentives and SLAs so that relationships are sustainable and mutually beneficial.
Manage financial reporting, forecasting, and analytics by working with Finance and Data teams so that business decisions are based on accurate, transparent data.
Translate complex analysis into actionable insights, ensuring clarity and alignment across financial and non-financial teams and disciplines.
