Hello, future Sr. Manager of Copy and Brand Storytelling

This is the person currently in your role. For full dramatic effect, please read this in Dakota Johnson’s voice. I don’t like job descriptions. They’re boring, and I'm convinced no one actually reads them. Plus, I don’t think a regular JD is capable of capturing the true magic of what it is to work here. Don’t worry, there are actual bullet points down below for those of you who need things like “responsibilities” and “qualifications.” blah blah blah

Here's what you really need to know:

Number one: The creative team at Grüns is 1 of 1.

At risk of sounding like a boomer using Gen Z slang, this job is extremely vibe-based.

Nothing is that serious, except for how much everyone cares about the work and each other.

In the wise words of every man who’s ever answered a Hinge prompt, we’re looking for someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

It’s a gummy bear brand. As long as you don’t get us sued, for God's sake, have some fun.

Number two: You are, quite literally, the voice of the brand.

With the help of your partner in crime, our brilliant Junior Copywriter, you’ll own pretty much everything Grüns has to say.

Campaigns. Scripts. New brand launches. Collaborations. Retail.

This isn’t a job for someone who waits around to be told what to do. If you think something could be better, make it better. If you have an idea, pitch it. If nobody asked for it but you think it would be fucking funny, tell our CD.

That’s the beauty of this role. You have a ridiculous amount of creative freedom, and lots of times, the "Stakeholders" are the ones coming up with the crazy ideas in the first place.

Number two point five: About that partner in crime.

You’ll manage our Junior Copywriter.

That means giving thoughtful feedback, bringing her into the bigger thinking, helping her develop her voice and instincts, and giving her room to own things herself.

You should genuinely enjoy mentoring someone, not just tolerate it because “management experience” looks good on LinkedIn.

Number three: You shouldn’t just be a writer.

Being a great writer is obviously important, but it’s not the whole thing.

You’ll concept social ideas alongside our Social Media Manager. You’ll write scripts that shape how the brand comes to life across social, TV, and whatever screen we end up on next.

You’ll work with our Art Director and Creative Director to build entirely new brands from scratch. You’ll partner with our SVP and VP of Brand to flesh out collaborations.

You’ll work with Legal to figure out how to say shit without getting sued.

You’ll work with Retail to bring the brand to life in the aisle of your favorite overpriced grocery store.

You’ll work with Growth and Ecomm to make sure the brand still feels like the brand when someone lands on the site.

Basically, you’ll work with pretty much everyone.

So if you’re looking for a job where someone hands you a brief, you write a few headlines, and then disappear into the night, this probably isn’t it.

Number four: If you don't put your cart back at the grocery store, you need not apply.

This is one of the first things I wrote to describe the Grüns brand if it were a person, but it also happens to describe the people here pretty perfectly. Nobody’s above the small stuff, nobody has an ego, and nobody leaves their cart in the middle of the parking lot.

That last one hasn’t been formally verified, but I’d be devastated to learn otherwise.

Alright, I’m done here.

Good luck out there. And just know I’ll be extremely jealous of whoever gets this job (it’s a really good one).

Actual JD or whatever:

In this role, you will:

Own and evolve the Grüns voice across campaigns, launches, social, retail, partnerships, and wherever else the brand shows up.

Manage and mentor our Junior Copywriter, providing creative direction, thoughtful feedback, and room to grow.

Write scripts across TV, social, digital, and brand campaigns.

Develop campaign concepts, messaging, naming, and brand narratives.

Partner with the Social Media Manager to concept social-first ideas and recurring content.

Work alongside the Art Director, Creative Director, and SVP of Brand to develop new brands from the ground up, including positioning, naming, voice, messaging, and launch.

Partner with the SVP and VP of Brand to develop the creative narratives behind collaborations and partnerships.

Work closely with Legal to turn claims and product benefits into language people actually understand while accurately representing what our products can do.

Partner with Retail to bring Grüns to life in-store through messaging, storytelling, signage, displays, and whatever else we can convince them to let us do.

Collaborate with Growth and Ecomm to bring campaign ideas and brand storytelling to life across the site and performance channels.

Push the brand somewhere new without losing what makes it Grüns in the first place.

We're looking for someone who:

8+ years of experience in brand storytelling, copywriting, advertising, editorial, entertainment, or another creative discipline where ideas and words matter. Comedy experience and a quippy, funny voice (without being cheesy) is a must.

Experience operating at a senior creative level within a CPG brand, agency, start-up, or similarly fast-moving environment.

An exceptional portfolio that proves you can think conceptually.

Experience building the language behind 360 campaigns

Finger on the pulse of culture, internet happenings, and what people are talking about (before the brands start talking about it too)

Experience managing, mentoring, and giving feedback to writers.

The ability to work closely with designers, art directors, strategists, marketers, product teams, lawyers, executives, and pretty much everyone else.

A strong point of view without the ego that sometimes comes with having one.

An instinct for making brands feel like they belong in culture rather than like they’re marketing at it.

A general disdain for AI but an openness to work with it to make your life easier

Compensation & Benefits:

At Grüns, we're committed to providing a competitive total compensation package — grounded in market data that considers our size, stage, industry, and location. For this role, the base salary range is $140,000-$160,000 plus bonus depending on experience, paired with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and growth of our team.
