About the role

Remote in Europe, or hybrid in Barcelona, Dublin, London, or Palma.

Flights is live and growing. You'd be one of a handful of engineers deciding how it scales.

We built Nuitée's flights product from scratch, and that 0 to 1 phase is done. It works, it's in production, and the next stage is taking it from 1 to 10: turning a working product into flight infrastructure that other companies can build on with confidence.

You'd join a small team; meaning the decisions you make on API design, caching, data models, and reliability end up in the product directly, with no layers of committees in between.

The domain is one of the hardest in travel. Flight offers change constantly, airlines are moving toward offer and order based retailing, and the work doesn't stop at search. Every change after a booking (a new date, a cancellation, a refund) has to flow cleanly through our APIs. We're building this as low-code API infrastructure, so a fintech or super-app can launch a flight product without becoming an airline expert.

What makes it interesting for you

Real ownership in a small team. You won't be one of dozens of engineers maintaining a mature service. Large parts of how Flights scales will carry your fingerprints.

The risky part is behind you. The product exists and works. Your energy goes into making it faster, deeper, and more robust.

A genuinely hard technical domain. Airline retailing, booking servicing, and caching volatile prices at scale are problems most backend engineers never get to touch.

Reach beyond travel companies. Our APIs let banks, fintechs, and super-apps offer travel to their users, some of them for the first time.

You’re trusted, and you’ll enjoy the team. The culture is results-oriented, with real autonomy over how you organise your work. The team is supportive and easy to work with.

Nuitée has grown 10x since 2022, was profitable before raising a $48M Series A led by Accel, and works with companies such as Revolut, Grab, Hopper, Priceline, and Sabre.

The kind of problems you'll work on

How do we cache flight offers aggressively enough to stay fast and cost efficient, without serving stale prices or availability?

How do we handle changes, cancellations, and refunds on a booking cleanly across different airlines and suppliers?

How do we design APIs simple enough that a partner can launch flights without learning airline retailing first?

How do we support NDC and offer and order based retailing (OOSD) while much of the industry still runs on legacy GDS flows?

This role fits if you

Have worked in the flights domain, at an OTA, airline, GDS, distributor, or flight booking platform, and understand how flight bookings work end to end.

Have hands-on experience with NDC.

Have 8+ years in software development, with deep backend and API experience.

Have real experience with Python, even if your main language is another object-oriented language like Java, Go, or Kotlin.

Are a hands-on IC and want to stay one.

Are based in Europe or work comfortably in a European time zone.

AWS experience at developer level is a strong plus, as are booking servicing, GDS integrations (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport), high-traffic systems, FastAPI, Redis, and relational databases.

Nuitée moves quickly, has little process, and gives people a lot of room to make decisions. You'll do well here if ambiguity does not slow you down, you like going deep into difficult problems, and you want to be accountable for what your code actually delivers.

If this sounds like your kind of backend role, we'd love to hear from you.
