Senior Product Designer
Opto is engineering the future of private markets to improve client outcomes and drive capital to the most transformative ideas.
The opportunity is huge. The global alternative investments industry is forecast to grow to $30T by 2029, however the private investment process typically remains opaque, highly manual, and error-prone, which limits access to the select few insiders who are willing to bear the pain.
Opto is a revolutionary end-to-end solution for wealth managers of any size- from small investment advisors to large multi-family offices to private banks- to build, fundraise for, and manage private markets programs at scale. We combine exceptional Silicon Valley engineering talent with experienced investors and industry specialists to fix this broken system through the power of technology. Our platform banishes the nightmare of slide decks, spreadsheets, and paperwork to the past, and arms our clients with the tools, data, and guidance to identify and access the right opportunities for their clients.
Fixing private markets will not be easy and demands courage, but we’re not afraid to do things differently. We are unapologetically bold. We value strong opinions, clear communication, and purposeful execution.

About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to own design for a major surface area of the Opto product. You will work alongside product and engineering to define what we build and how we build it, pushing for simplicity, clarity, and high quality across every experience. You will bring design into strategy, not just execution.
Today, our product does not yet match the ambition of what we're building. This role exists to close that gap: to bring design into the room when decisions get made, to hold the quality bar on what ships, and to build the patterns and thinking that compound across the product as we grow.
You bring strong opinions: you know what good looks like, and you can articulate the "how," not just point at the outcome. You think in systems, leverage AI in both your process and the product, and take ownership of outcomes, not just output.
Your day-to-day will include;
Owning design for a major surface end-to-end: strategy, execution, and outcomes, not just the screens in between.
Bringing design into strategic and product decisions from the start. Advocate for the design and user perspective in roadmap and prioritization, not only in execution.
Shipping design, not only proposing it. You're hands-on from concept through the details that make a workflow actually work.
Partnering with product and engineering to bring work to market with confidence: workflows that hold up, quality that holds, and design that supports the user journey we're validating. Your job isn't done when it ships.
Contributing to design practices that scale: patterns, components, and thinking that compound across the product rather than one-off screens.
Bringing a point of view on design in an AI-native product: trust, transparency, and where design adds the most leverage.
Using qualitative and quantitative signals to inform decisions. Care about the methodology, not just the dashboard.
Pushing for simplicity and coherence across the workflows you own. Build end-to-end experiences, not disconnected screens.
What success looks like
You've identified the highest-leverage design problems in your area, and your work reflects that focus, not scattered polish across low-impact surfaces.
Core workflows feel coherent, intuitive, and built for how our users actually work.
Design decisions in your area are informed by evidence and clear reasoning, not opinion or inertia.
You've simplified or killed something that shouldn't exist. The experience is lighter, not just prettier.
Product and engineering trust your judgment and bring you in early, not after the direction is already set.
About You
Required Skills
0-1 product design experience. You've designed a product or major feature from scratch. You can point to what you built first, what you cut, and how you knew when it was enough to ship.
Strong product sense and high quality bar. You know what good looks like and push towards it. You can articulate the “how”, not just point at the outcome.
Senior IC ownership. You've owned significant scope independently, without needing a manager to hand you a spec or a PM to make the call for you. You may have led or mentored other designers, but this is not a people-management role.
Systems thinking. You build scalable patterns and think about how design decisions compound. You care about quality and consistency while moving at pace.
Outcomes and measurement. You think in outcomes, not just outputs. You bring measurement and analytics into design and aren't satisfied with "we shipped it" as the end of the story.
Comfort in ambiguity. You thrive when direction is evolving and you help shape it. You create clarity rather than waiting for it.
AI-native design experience. You've built AI-native products and deeply integrate AI into your own workflow. We're building an AI-powered product and need someone all in on keeping up with the tools, trends, and best practices.
A point of view on design's evolving role. You've thought about how the capabilities and role of design are changing. You have an opinion on what stays core to design, what's shifting, and how you're adapting.
