Senior Data Engineer

Nexaminds is actively looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

Qualifications we are looking for:

5+ years of experience as Data Engineer.

Hands-on experience with Debezium for change data capture

Hands-on experience with Kafka and/or Azure Event Hubs for data streaming

Proven experience building and operating CDC pipelines in production

Comfortable working across a large, complex data estate — hundreds of databases and thousands of tables

Strong SQL and data modeling skills

Experience troubleshooting data pipeline issues: schema drift, replication lag, backpressure, failure recovery

Strong communication and leadership skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Job Duties:

Design, build, and operate CDC pipelines using Debezium to capture changes from source databases

Stream and route data through Kafka and/or Azure Event Hubs, ensuring reliability and low latency

Operate and scale pipelines across hundreds of source databases and thousands of tables

Ingest and model streamed data in Databricks, using Lakeflow CDC or comparable tooling

Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot data drift, schema changes, and replication lag

Partner with backend and data teams to define schemas, SLAs, and data quality standards

Document pipeline architecture and operational runbooks

Nice to have:

Familiarity with Databricks, especially Lakeflow CDC or comparable managed CDC/ingestion tooling

Experience with Azure data services (Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs)

Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD for data pipelines

Background in observability/monitoring for data platforms

Prior experience working on client-facing engagements or staff augmentation tea
