Reporting / Business Intelligence Analyst

10Pearls is seeking an experienced Reporting / Business Intelligence Analyst to support an existing client engagement. The client currently maintains approximately 750 reports in WebFOCUS, accumulated over the past 20 years.

This role will lead the analysis required to develop a comprehensive WebFOCUS Replacement Plan and an evidence-based report retirement, migration, and target-state roadmap. The analyst will work closely with business report owners, heavy report consumers, the client’s Microsoft Fabric platform team, and existing 10Pearls team members who will support onboarding and provide engagement context.

The ideal candidate combines strong reporting and business analysis capabilities with hands-on experience assessing legacy BI environments, analyzing report usage, documenting access controls, engaging business stakeholders, and planning migrations to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities

Report Inventory and Usage Analysis

Extract and document the complete report inventory from the WebFOCUS repository.

Enable usage analytics or parse repository information to identify report run frequency, last-run dates, and consumer counts.

Categorize reports by business function, data source, ownership, complexity, and usage.

Distinguish the actively used reporting core from dormant or low-value reports.

Identify duplicate, overlapping, obsolete, and business-critical reports.

Maintain an evidence-based report assessment and disposition matrix.

Current-State Security Documentation

Analyze and document the existing WebFOCUS data security model.

Identify where security is enforced, including dashboard, report, row, and column levels.

Document the Active Directory-integrated user and group access model.

Capture relevant network access controls, including firewall and VPN requirements for remote and sales users.

Provide clear current-state documentation that can inform the target-state access and security design.

Ensure the proposed reporting solution preserves equivalent or stronger access controls.

Report Rationalization and Fit Analysis

Assign a proposed kill, keep, consolidate, or rebuild disposition to reports within the active inventory.

Recommend the bulk retirement of dormant reports based on available usage evidence.

Validate usage findings with report owners and business stakeholders.

Evaluate report activity across a complete seasonal business cycle to avoid incorrectly retiring periodic reports.

Account for annual budget, inventory, audit, yearbook-season, and other infrequently executed but business-critical reporting.

Assign business ownership to retained reports in alignment with the client’s governance model.

Assess whether reports can be replaced by standard Power BI capabilities or require redesign.

Target-State Architecture

Define a target-state approach for delivering the surviving report portfolio through Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

Coordinate the reporting design with the client’s Fabric platform team.

Map current reports, data sources, business logic, security requirements, and user groups to the proposed target state.

Identify dependencies, technical constraints, migration risks, and opportunities for consolidation or modernization.

Recommend reusable datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and reporting patterns where appropriate.

Migration Plan and Roadmap

Develop an actionable implementation roadmap organized into migration waves.

Prioritize waves based on business function, report complexity, dependencies, usage, and business criticality.

Produce wave-level effort, duration, resource, and cost estimates.

Define the proposed cutover strategy and WebFOCUS decommissioning approach.

Identify validation, parallel-running, user acceptance, and production-readiness requirements.

Prepare a change-impact assessment for the cost-accounting team and other high-volume report consumers.

Document key assumptions, risks, dependencies, decisions, and recommended next steps.

Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in business intelligence, reporting analysis, data analysis, or a related role.

Demonstrated experience assessing or modernizing legacy enterprise reporting environments.

Strong experience building report inventories and analyzing report usage, ownership, dependencies, and business value.

Experience conducting report rationalization and assigning retirement, retention, consolidation, or rebuild recommendations.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, including dashboards, reports, datasets, semantic models, and access controls.

Experience with Microsoft Fabric or closely related Microsoft data and analytics platforms.

Ability to analyze and document dashboard-, report-, row-, and column-level security.

Understanding of Active Directory-based users, groups, and access models.

Experience gathering and validating requirements with business owners and report consumers.

Ability to translate findings into target-state recommendations, migration waves, effort estimates, and implementation roadmaps.

Strong written documentation, analytical, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Availability to work primarily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience with WebFOCUS, including its repository structure, reporting assets, security model, or usage data.

Experience migrating reports from WebFOCUS to Microsoft Fabric or Power BI.

Familiarity with report-repository parsing or methods for enabling and extracting usage analytics.

Experience developing BI migration cost estimates and decommissioning plans.

Knowledge of data governance, report ownership models, and enterprise access-control design.

Experience supporting manufacturing, publishing, cost accounting, inventory, audit, or seasonal reporting environments.

Familiarity with firewall, VPN, and remote-user access considerations for enterprise BI platforms.
