Smartsheet's AI go-to-market runs on a simple conviction: the work is the intelligence. The most credible voice in that conversation isn't a marketer who studied the use cases -  it's a practitioner who built them. Someone who has run a real enterprise operation on Smartsheet at scale, pushed the platform past its documented edges, wired it into AI workflows before the playbook existed, and can stand in front of a room of skeptical operators and make them lean in.

This role sits at the intersection of product marketing, technical storytelling, and field engineering. You'll translate our AI roadmap into narratives the field can sell, prove those narratives with working demonstrations you build yourself, and represent the practitioner's voice in how we position, package, and activate AI across our customer base.

This full-time position reports to the VP of AI Market Strategy and can be located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

Own the practitioner narrative. Turn Smartsheet's AI capabilities — MCP, agentic workflows, connected context — into positioning and use cases grounded in how work actually gets done. Operator-to-operator storytelling backed by things you've built.

Carry the story externally. Customer sessions, analyst conversations, community engagement, executive briefings. You'll be one of the most visible technical voices in Smartsheet's AI story, with the depth to survive the Q&A.

Build what you preach. Working with our technical teams, you'll construct reference implementations, MCP-connected workflows, and demonstration environments that make the AI narrative tangible.

Partner with Forward Deployed Engineering. Work directly with FDE on marquee customer engagements — shaping the positioning that opens the door, then helping architect the patterns that prove the value. You'll carry insight both directions: from customer deployments into narrative, from narrative into deployment strategy.

Enable the field. Equip sellers and partners to have substantive AI conversations — practical implementation, ROI, governance, and the honest limits. You'll build the enablement artifacts and deliver the training that separates our field from everyone reading the same analyst decks.

Shape adoption programs. Contribute practitioner judgment to our AI customer activation motion — maturity frameworks, adoption scoring, and the programs that move customers from first conversation to transformation.

Drive cross-functional alignment. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure the AI narrative, roadmap, and field enablement stay in lockstep,  surfacing practitioner insight into product decisions and translating product direction back into field-ready messaging.

Lead without authority. Act as a connective force across teams and functions, influencing priorities and driving alignment on AI positioning bringing clarity and momentum to ambiguous, fast-moving initiatives.

Own, manage or lead other projects and initiatives as assigned.

You Have:

Administered and architected Smartsheet (or comparable work management platforms) at enterprise scale -  Control Center, APIs, integrations, the works. You know the platform's edges because you've hit them.

A developer background: you write code, work with APIs, understand MCP and modern AI integration patterns, and can build working demonstrations.

Run a real function - a PMO, an operations org, a transformation program - and carry the credibility of someone who owned outcomes, not just messaging.

Presented to executives and large audiences at major industry events or customer conferences. You make complex systems feel inevitable and simple. People remember your sessions.

Ability to translate and work fluidly between product, engineering, sales, and customers — compressing technical depth into language that makes people act.

Belief that AI changes how organizations execute, and you've already proven it in your own operation rather than waiting for permission.

Hands-on experience with MCP, AI agents, or LLM-connected workflows in production.

History of pushing a vendor's platform so hard the vendor noticed.

Experience working directly with product and engineering teams as a design partner or customer advisory voice.

10+ years of relevant experience.

Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
