Principal Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
Meade is seeking an accomplished Principal Electrical Engineer to lead complex electrical design efforts across a portfolio of high-profile projects. This role requires both technical depth and strategic leadership, with a focus on data centers, industrial facilities, and other large commercial developments.
The Principal Electrical Engineer will serve as a technical authority, project leader, and mentor, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative, code-compliant, and cost-effective solutions. This position involves regular collaboration with Meade staff, clients, vendors, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for electrical design on major projects, setting technical direction and ensuring design excellence.
Perform and oversee complex electrical system design and calculations for power distribution, lighting, standby generation, and control systems.
Review, sign, and seal engineering drawings and specifications.
Provide quality assurance and technical oversight for submittals, RFIs, change orders, record drawings, and construction administration.
Conduct site observations, inspections, and participate in commissioning activities.
Develop and maintain technical standards, guidelines, and best practices for electrical design.
Write and edit equipment specifications, select systems and devices, and coordinate with other design disciplines.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and on-time delivery.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineering staff.
Support business development and client engagement, including technical presentations and proposal input.
Minimum Qualifications:
8+ years of professional electrical engineering design experience in the construction industry.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license (Electrical) required and in good standing.
Demonstrated experience acting as Engineer of Record (EOR) for electrical systems.
Proven experience leading electrical design for data centers, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, or similar large-scale projects.
Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
In-depth knowledge of NFPA Standards, NEC, and international and national building codes.
Advanced expertise in power distribution, standby and emergency systems, and generator control systems.
Demonstrated experience producing Protective Device Coordination and Arc Flash studies.
Proficiency with Medium Voltage equipment selection and specification preferred.
Strategic thinker with the ability to influence technical direction and support long-range organizational goals.
Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.

This position is available to candidates residing in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, IN, MI, MO, NV, OH, OK, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV. Compensation and benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and may vary based on location and applicable laws. The pay range for this position will be provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, geographic location, and business needs.
The estimate pay ranges for this role are as follows:
Virginia: $164,000-$195,000
Washington: $175,000-$229,000
