Principal Compensation Partner, Sales

We are seeking a Principal Compensation Partner to serve as the strategic compensation advisor for our Sales organization. In this role, you will be embedded with Sales leadership and People Business Partners, providing expert guidance on all compensation matters to attract, retain, and motivate top Sales talent in a competitive market.
You will develop deep expertise in the Sales talent landscape, influence compensation strategy for this critical function, and ensure our pay practices support both business objectives and employee experience. The ideal candidate combines strong consulting skills with analytical rigor and thrives on building trusted relationships with senior leaders.
What You'll Do
Partner with senior leaders, Recruiters and People Business Partners to provide strategic compensation guidance on offers, promotions, retention, and organizational design
Lead compensation planning for the Sales org during annual cycles, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles, internal equity, and budget
Advise on complex scenarios including counter-offers, equity negotiations, and specialized talent segments
Build trusted advisor relationships with Sales executive leadership and PBPs through proactive engagement, business acumen, and responsive support
Contribute to the evolution of enterprise compensation philosophy, structures, and policies based on client group insights
Conduct regular market analyses for Sales roles and provide data-driven recommendations to maintain competitiveness
Develop deep expertise in Sales compensation trends, competitive benchmarks, and talent market dynamics
Coach and enable managers on compensation philosophy, decision-making frameworks, and having compensation conversations
What We're Looking For
8+ years of compensation experience with significant depth in business partnering and consulting
Experience supporting Sales functions in a fast-paced environment
Deep expertise in compensation fundamentals: market pricing, job evaluation, salary structures, and equity compensation
Proven ability to influence and advise senior leaders; comfortable presenting to executives
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into clear, actionable recommendations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and credibility quickly
High judgment and discretion when handling sensitive compensation matters
Pay & Benefits
The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
