Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: Contract
Period of Performance: Through Mid-November 2026, with potential extension
Pay Rate: $125K - $130K with full benefits
Position Overview
MKS2 is seeking a Mid to Mid-Senior DevSecOps / Platform Practitioner to support the design, implementation, and operation of secure, scalable cloud platform capabilities. This role focuses on enabling modern software delivery through cloud infrastructure, automation, security engineering, and platform operations. The selected candidate will play a key role in improving reliability, resiliency, automation, and governance while enhancing the developer experience across cloud-based environments.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with experience in cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, CI/CD automation, and platform security who can collaborate effectively across engineering, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of DevSecOps and cloud platform services.
Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and supporting platform tools.
Build and maintain GitOps-based deployment workflows, automation pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
Implement and support security controls, identity and access management, and policy enforcement standards.
Monitor platform health, investigate performance issues, and support incident response and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to improve platform stability, scalability, and security.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and runbooks.
Support platform enhancements, cloud modernization initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Assist with implementing best practices for DevSecOps, cloud governance, automation, and infrastructure management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
4–7 years of experience in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience supporting cloud-native environments and modern application delivery practices.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps methodologies.
Experience implementing automation and security practices within cloud environments.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

Experience supporting federal government, DoD, or regulated environments.
Knowledge of platform security, policy-as-code, and cloud governance frameworks.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS DevOps Engineer, Security+, or Kubernetes certifications.
