IEM is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Materials Planning Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Surrey, B.C. In this mid-level role, you will be responsible for coordinating production scheduling, managing inventory levels, and ensuring materials and finished goods flow efficiently through our facility. You will serve as a key link between production, purchasing, logistics, and customer service teams.

Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey, B.C. offices and does not offer remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the Production Scheduler to support schedule adherence, flag inventory-driven constraints, and communicate material availability impacts on production timelines

Monitor raw material, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished goods inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without excess

Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies

Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely purchasing of materials based on production requirements and lead times

Analyze inventory data and production metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement

Maintain accurate records in the ERP/MRP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor) including BOMs, routings, and inventory transactions

Communicate production status, delays, and capacity constraints to relevant stakeholders

Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of inventory

Support new product launches by coordinating material readiness and production ramp-up plans

Assist in developing and enforcing inventory control policies and procedures

Generate and distribute production and inventory reports to management on a regular basis

The candidate will be expected to perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.

3–5 years of experience in production planning, inventory control, or a related role within a manufacturing environment

Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor, or similar)

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, and supply chain principles

Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred:

APICS CPIM or CSCP designation (or in progress)

Familiarity with demand forecasting and capacity planning

[Compensation Range:  $33.00 - 43.00/hr CAD]
