Manager. Accounts Payable
About the Role
As the Accounts Payable Manager, you will lead and modernize our procure-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle during a critical phase of hyper-growth and increased purchasing volume. A core objective of this position is developing and implementing a robust P2P process designed to meet our current company demands while remaining scalable and future-proof as we position ourselves as a public company. Achieving this will require driving cross-functional change in close partnership with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and Accounting leadership to align operational workflows with financial standards.
In this position, you will play a hands-on role in leading the implementation of NetSuite and the rollout of Precoro as it relates to the P2P process, establishing a seamless, automated bridge between purchasing and payables. Supported by a team who will manage the day-to-day invoice processing, detailed reconciliations, and routine operations, this role focuses on higher-level strategic leadership: process design, system architecture, cross-functional alignment, policy enforcement, internal controls, and overall department leadership in a dynamic, high-growth environment. The AP Manager will also bring experience leveraging AI technology and modern automated solutions to drive continuous process improvement, eliminate manual friction, and optimize workflow efficiency across the P2P lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
P2P Process Transformation & Scalability: Architect and optimize end-to-end P2P workflows, purchase order (PO) approval matrices, and vendor onboarding processes designed to handle high-volume hardware, manufacturing, and corporate purchasing while aligning with public company readiness (SOX compliance).
Systems Implementation (NetSuite & Precoro): Lead the AP functional setup, workflow design, integration testing, and rollout of Precoro (procurement) and NetSuite (ERP) as it relates to the P2P process, establishing automated data flow between purchasing, invoice approval, and payment processing.
Continuous AI & Process Improvement: Identify, evaluate, and implement the use of AI technology and intelligent automation (such as AI-powered OCR invoice capture, automated exception routing, smart fraud prevention, and predictive analytics) to drive ongoing process improvement and operational efficiency.
Cross-Functional Change Leadership: Partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and Accounting leadership to drive organization-wide adoption of new procurement policies, eliminate approval bottlenecks, and enforce PO compliance.
Team Leadership & Operational Governance: Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team; set strategic operational focus areas, conduct performance reviews, and foster professional growth across the department.
Management Review & High-Level Approvals: Perform secondary reviews and final authorizations for payment runs (ACH, wires, checks), evaluate high-value or complex payment exceptions, and ensure proper GL alignment across inventory and corporate expenses.
Internal Controls & Audit Readiness: Establish robust SOX-compliant internal controls, update and enforce travel & expense (T&E) and purchasing policies, and serve as the main point of contact for internal/external audits related to payables.
Month-End Close Oversight & Cash Management: Oversee the month-end AP close process managed by the team, reviewing subledger-to-GL reconciliations, AP aging, unbilled PO accrual methodologies, and delivering cash flow forecasting inputs to senior management.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Experience:
Minimum of 7+ years of progressive Accounts Payable / Accounting experience.
Minimum of 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial leadership role.
Direct experience with SOX compliance and building/enforcing internal controls for public company readiness required.
Systems Expertise:
Hands-on experience with NetSuite or other tier-one ERP; key-user or implementation experience with NetSuite and P2P platforms like Precoro (or similar P2P tools) is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience utilizing AI technology, machine learning tools, or advanced automation to streamline AP workflows and drive continuous process improvements.
Environment & Industry: Experience operating in high-growth technology, hardware, robotics, manufacturing, or supply-chain environments preferred.
Mindset: Proven ability to thrive in an unstructured environment with the drive to bring structure, standards, automation, and compliance without slowing down operational speed.
Skills: Strong cross-functional negotiation, project management, and high-level team management skills; advanced proficiency in MS Excel or Google Sheets
