Litigation Paralegal

Summary

This role will work closely with a lead attorney on medical malpractice litigation. Successful candidates will be responsible for areas including but not limited to the following.

Responsibilities

Draft, prepare, and e-file legal documents including pleadings, motions, complaints, affidavits, memoranda, summons, and appellate documents in state and federal court

Conduct legal research and factual investigation, including applicable state-specific medical malpractice statutes, pre-suit notice requirements, and statutes of limitation; track all key case deadlines

Request, organize, and summarize medical records; prepare medical chronologies and identify potential standard-of-care issues for attorney review

Prepare and respond to discovery documents, including interrogatories; maintain pleadings, discovery, and exhibit indexes

Coordinate depositions, summarize transcripts, and assist with witness preparation

Support medical expert coordination and communication

Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and appendices with the legal assistant

Liaise between trial teams and internal and external third parties, including clients, courts, opposing counsel, medical providers, and records vendors

Assist with case settlements and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience in a legal setting — litigation, personal injury, or medical malpractice experience a plus

Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records review a plus

Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload with a positive attitude

Willingness to learn and work within the procedural and filing requirements of applicable state courts

Associate's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent work experience preferred but not required
