ABOUT THE TEAM:

The Company Formation (CoFo) team manages business registration and incorporation across multiple countries and jurisdictions by integrating with local government and third-party providers, and collaborating with strategic partners to utilize market-specific capabilities. Beyond registration, CoFo oversees the complete member onboarding lifecycle, ensuring cross-domain functionality and operability.

To support our expansion into registering existing businesses and incorporating new ones in countries like Germany and France, the team is restructuring into two specialized focus areas:

Established Markets: Dedicated to core operations in the UK.

New Markets: A newly established team focused on scaling operations across Germany (DE) and France (FR).

This position is critical to our growth and receives strong visibility from executive leadership. Because company formation is directly tied to new member onboarding, any friction in the process risks permanently losing prospective members. Consequently, building resilient, observable, and gracefully degradable services is essential for acquiring new members and successfully scaling into new markets.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Lead and own the end-to-end delivery of company formation and business registration within the New Markets team, ensuring full compliance with local regulatory requirements and market-specific nuances.

Architect, build, and maintain scalable distributed systems for seamless member onboarding with sustainable long-term strategy.

Partner with the Established Markets team to extend a reusable core onboarding platform utilizing flexible state machines and market-specific adapters.

Collaborate closely with product, compliance, and internal operations to define system architecture, execute key deliveries, and ensure all services are highly accurate, supportable, and fully compliant.

Drive cross-functional engagement across domains to gain a complete understanding of their systems and optimise existing flows.

Mentor and develop team members through active hands-on technical delivery and leadership.

Guarantee high system stability, operational reliability, and performance by defining SLOs, improving observability tooling, and supporting effective on-call practices.

Align with other engineering leaders to drive strategic cross-cutting infrastructure decisions and cross-team initiatives.

Shape the team’s roadmap and vision for upcoming quarters, presenting strategic plans clearly to senior leadership.

Manage team members, support their professional development, distribute workload, and ensure alignment on deliverable goals.

Champion modern engineering practices by transitioning the team toward full-stack development and agentic workflows

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Tide is looking for a hands-on, technical Engineering Manager to direct the New Markets team, taking ownership of business registration and company formation capabilities across expanding markets.

Key qualifications and skills required for this role:

Proven track record in building and operating distributed systems

Strong technical background (preferrably with the JVM ecosystem)

Hands-on expertise with third-party service integrations

Ability to lead, mentor, and empower engineering teams

Strong self-drive and capability to operate autonomously

Proactive problem solver who clears blockers for themselves and teammates

Agile, adaptable mindset suited for a high-velocity environment

Outstanding communication and stakeholder management capabilities

Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted and agentic workflows

OUR TECH STACK: Our services run on AWS using Java and Spring Boot microservices, backed by AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL) as our primary database. Asynchronous and event-driven messaging is handled via AWS SNS / SQS. We use Coralogix for observability, Gradle for builds, and GitHub for CI/CD with automated testing, security scanning, and Kubernetes deployments via ArgoCD. Our mobile applications are built with Flutter, while our web platform is transitioning from Angular to Flutter (web).

New joiners typically have something in production within their first two weeks. Claude Code is enabled for all engineers for agentic and AI-assisted development.
