Engineering Lead

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to guide a pod of Senior Full Stack Engineers supporting the continued development and customer expansion of a SaaS platform for behavioral health and government agencies. The client recently launched One Course Product and is preparing to onboard multiple customers, each requiring customer-specific modules, workflows, and integrations.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The Engineering Lead will contribute to architecture and development, coordinate delivery, remove technical blockers, and ensure that the pod moves quickly without compromising security, quality, maintainability, or compliance.

Key responsibilities

Lead a pod of three to four Senior Full Stack Engineers delivering new SaaS modules and customer-specific functionality.

Collaborate with client engineering, product, design, QA, and subject-matter experts to clarify requirements and establish delivery plans.

Translate product designs and customer needs into scalable technical solutions across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and AWS-hosted services.

Design and review solutions using Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.

Contribute directly to implementation, troubleshooting, testing, and code reviews.

Coordinate work distribution, identify dependencies, communicate delivery risks, and remove blockers.

Maintain consistency and engineering quality within a monorepo architecture.

Establish and reinforce standards for clean code, unit testing, documentation, security, observability, and maintainability.

Ensure engineers write unit tests as part of development and collaborate effectively with QA.

Guide the responsible use of Cursor and other approved AI-assisted development tools, ensuring generated code is reviewed and validated.

Support production readiness, launch stabilization, and rapid issue resolution as new customers are onboarded.

Required qualifications

8 or more years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership of senior engineers or full stack teams.

Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS or a comparable Node.js framework.

Strong experience developing modern web applications with React.

Advanced PostgreSQL and relational data-modeling experience.

Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs, backend services, and reusable application components.

Experience delivering SaaS products or complex multi-customer platforms.

Strong understanding of scalable, service-oriented application architecture and AWS-hosted production systems.

Experience working in monorepo environments and with automated unit and integration testing.

Demonstrated ability to lead code reviews and guide architecture and engineering standards.

Experience working in Scrum teams and managing delivery through Jira.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, autonomy, and comfort operating under tight timelines.

Willingness to work in the client’s Cursor-based AI-assisted development environment.

Ability to comply with background checks, security controls, access requirements, and client VPN policies.

Preferred qualifications

Experience developing healthcare, behavioral-health, government, or public-sector technology products.

Familiarity with healthcare data security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, configurable workflows, rules engines, permissions, or role-based access control.

Experience creating reusable frameworks, shared services, libraries, internal tools, or developer platforms.

Experience with production monitoring, alerting, observability, and incident resolution.

Consulting, staff-augmentation, customer onboarding, or external client-facing experience.
