Director of Sales - NYC
About the Role
The Director of Sales is responsible for hiring, managing, and mentoring a team of sales representatives (Account Executives) and their first line leaders (Regional Sales Managers) to meet and exceed their revenue goals. Our Account Executives are responsible for maintaining high activity standards; daily prospecting, pipeline growth, prospect qualification, and delivering on assigned quarterly sales revenue targets.
What You'll Do
Own the New York City office & the Northeast, its culture, and the path past $50M in annual revenue within two fiscal years along with the forecast accuracy behind it.
Lead and develop a team of 5+ Regional Sales Managers (front line) and Account Executives (40+).
Grow the organization without lowering the bar, which means building the leadership bench ahead of the headcount, not behind it.
Run the operating cadence: weekly forecast calls, pipeline and deal inspection, monthly business reviews, quarterly territory and capacity planning.
Coach Regional Sales Managers on the things that actually separate an average leader from a great one: talent decisions, performance management, capacity planning, and their own succession.
Partner with Channel, Recruiting, Sales Enablement, Marketing, Sales Ops, and Product to unblock the region and feed what you learn in the field back into the product.
Give executive leadership a clear, unvarnished read on the business: what's working, what isn't, and what you need.
What You'll Bring
10+ years in B2B sales with 4+ years as a second-line leader
A track record of building sales organizations that beat their number, and of hiring and developing the leaders who did it.
Experience scaling a team through a step change in headcount, not just running one at steady state
Deep command of forecasting, pipeline management, capacity planning, and territory design
Comfort operating in a high-growth environment
Exceptional sales/leader coaching and executive communication skills
The ability to influence cross-functionally without authority: Channel, Marketing, and Product who don't report to you
Willingness to travel ~30% to customers, channel partners, and events
Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week.
Bachelor's degree preferred
