Data Center Operations Technician
The role
The Mechanical Operations Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems supporting a mission-critical data center in Mantsala, Finland. Working as part of a 24/7 Critical Facilities Operations team, the technician ensures maximum equipment availability while supporting the site's commitments to energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Facilities Operations
Operate and monitor mechanical infrastructure using the Building Management System (BMS) and routine field inspections.
Respond to alarms, equipment faults, and operational events in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
Record equipment readings, operating parameters, and shift activities.
Support planned switching operations and maintenance windows.
Mechanical Maintenance
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical failures and carry out repairs or coordinate vendor support.
Assist with commissioning, recommissioning, and integrated systems testing.
Maintain accurate maintenance records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Mechanical Systems
Operate and maintain systems including:
Chilled water systems
CRAH and CRAC units
Chillers
Air Handling Units (AHUs)
Pumps and hydronic distribution systems
Heat exchangers
HVAC systems
District cooling and heat recovery systems (where applicable)
Water treatment systems
Mechanical valves and piping
Expansion vessels and pressure systems
Health, Safety & Compliance
Work in accordance with Finnish occupational safety legislation and EU health and safety requirements.
Follow Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and risk assessment procedures.
Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Participate in emergency response activities and incident investigations.
Promote a strong safety culture and environmentally responsible work practices.
Qualifications
Education
Vocational Qualification (Ammatillinen perustutkinto) or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Building Services Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
Equivalent technical or military experience may also be considered.
Experience
2–5 years of experience maintaining mechanical systems in data centers, industrial facilities, manufacturing, hospitals, power generation, or other critical environments.
Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and CMMS software is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
Occupational Safety Card (Työturvallisuuskortti)
Hot Work Card (Tulityökortti)
First Aid Certificate (EA1 or equivalent)
Refrigerant handling qualification (where applicable)
Fluent English (written and spoken)
Finnish language skills are beneficial but not essential
