Compliance Officer
Overview
The Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing the Company's compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, and regulatory compliance framework in El Salvador. The role ensures adherence to applicable regulatory obligations across the Company's VASP and EMI activities while supporting a strong culture of compliance and financial crime prevention.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, and regulatory compliance policies and procedures.
Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, license conditions, and internal standards.
Conduct compliance and financial crime risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Oversee customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting processes.
Review and investigate compliance incidents, control weaknesses, and potential regulatory breaches.
Manage regulatory reporting obligations and support regulatory inspections, examinations, and audits.
Provide compliance advice and guidance to business, operations, and management teams.
Deliver compliance and AML training programmes to employees.
Prepare compliance reports and management information for senior management and governance committees.
Act as a key point of contact with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on compliance matters.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline.
6+ years of compliance, AML, financial crime, or regulatory experience within banking, payments, fintech, or virtual asset businesses.
Strong working knowledge of El Salvador AML/CFT, financial services, payments, and virtual asset regulatory requirements.
Prior experience interacting with local regulators, law enforcement agencies, or financial intelligence authorities is preferred.
Professional compliance certifications are advantageous.
Must be a citizen of El Salvador and maintain primary residence in El Salvador, available to perform the role locally on a full-time basis.
Fluency in Spanish and English.
