SUMMARY: The AV Field Engineer work with the Engineering team to install, commission, and complete AV and multimedia systems in accordance with New Era Technology standards. The role spans fabrication, installation, control and DSP configuration, and large-venue audio tuning.

PRIMARY DUTIES: The AV Field Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Engineering and Documentation

Participate in engineering discussions and drawing reviews

Read, mark up, and follow project and consultant documentation

Support Project Managers and Engineers on project-specific technical requirements

Document equipment data (e.g., serial numbers, MAC addresses, IP addresses) and maintain inventory control and chain of custody

Provide detailed daily reports of work completed and open punch-list items

Fabrication and Installation

Fabricate and stage AV systems in the field and in-house as needed

Install and label equipment in racks

Pull, crimp, solder, terminate, label, and dress cable in racks, under tables, and in credenzas and lecterns

Support the installation team as needed and maintain a clean, organized work area

Perform quality control on systems installed by others (e.g., subcontractors)

Commissioning, Programming, and Tuning

Configure, load, test, and troubleshoot control system programming

Coordinate with in-house or subcontracted programmers

Write, modify, load, test, and troubleshoot DSP files in support of system commissioning and audio optimization

Tune professional audio systems for large venues, including stadium bowls, arenas, and auditoriums, including setting delay, gain structure, signal routing, equalization, and related system parameters

Troubleshoot and repair newly installed and existing custom AV systems

Project and Client Support

Support multiple concurrent projects; review project requirements and schedule remote and onsite time to meet project deadlines

Train clients on the use of AV systems

Escalate customer service issues to management and support their resolution

Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and comply with company policies and procedures

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of four years of AV experience, with demonstrated proficiency meeting New Era Technology’s Field Engineer standard

Demonstrated experience tuning large-venue professional audio systems, including loudspeaker system alignment and acoustic measurement

Client- and service-focused mindset, with strong listening skills and the ability to understand customer issues

Understanding of how audiovisual systems function and how to diagnose and resolve problems within them

Proficiency with AV platforms (e.g., AMX, Extron, Crestron, Poly, Cisco, QSC, Biamp)

Solid soldering skills

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under schedule pressure

Discretion and good judgment with regard to sensitive or confidential information

AV networking experience, including configuration, troubleshooting, and coordination of networked audiovisual systems preferred

Experience installing, configuring, and commissioning IPTV systems preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

CTS or CTS-I certification or be able to obtain within first 90 days

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, understand, and interpret job-related documents, instructions, policies, and communications in English. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with employees, customers, vendors, and other business partners, as applicable to the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to drive a company vehicle to client sites

Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis

Ability to safely use hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts, including work at heights

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects

Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away

Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand, and understand the speech of others

WORK ENVIRONMENT: In office / remote and traveling to client locations.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This position generally operates during normal business hours; however, specific start and end times may vary based on business needs, workload, and job responsibilities. Occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required.

TRAVEL: Up to 20% domestic travel, including overnight stays.
