Analytics Engineering Contractor
POSITION SUMMARY
Join EarnIn's Analytics Engineering team for a 6-month internship building the data foundation that powers business decisions, and the AI systems that make that data accessible to every analyst at EarnIn. You'll own meaningful end-to-end work across two connected workstreams - data modeling and AI-powered analytics- under the guidance of senior analytics engineers. This position is based in Bengaluru, India, with two days a week in-office required as part of our expanding site location, and is a 6-month contract engagement with a start date in January 2027.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Contribute to the Agentic Analytics system, an AI agent that answers business questions by generating and evaluating SQL, by reviewing agent outputs for correctness, curating golden evaluation datasets, and capturing domain business rules that improve the agent's accuracy over time.
Develop a deep understanding of EarnIn's core business domains to evaluate whether AI-generated answers are correct for real business questions; your domain judgment is the most valuable input to the system.
Use AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) throughout both workstreams to develop applied AI skills in a real analytics engineering context.
Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented SQL and Python code that lasts beyond the internship.
Collaborate with engineers and analysts across the Data team; present your work and learnings to the broader team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree (B.E., B.Tech., M.Tech., or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an Indian university
Experience with SQL - writing queries, understanding data models, working with analytical datasets; coursework or personal projects count.
Familiarity with Python for data work; classroom or project experience is fine.
Eagerness to learn and actively use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) as part of your day-to-day workflow. This is a core expectation, not a nice-to-have.
Curiosity about how businesses work - you want to understand why a metric is defined a certain way, not just how to query it.
Ability to communicate progress proactively, ask good questions, and document your work clearly.
Self-starter mindset - you take initiative, seek feedback, and iterate quickly with moderate guidance.
Prior internship or project experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, and/or business intelligence is a plus.
Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or dbt in any environment (coursework, personal project, or prior role) is a plus.
Exposure to data modeling concepts or BI tools (Tableau or similar) is a plus
