The Transportation & Trade Compliance Coordinator keeps inbound and outbound freight moving, from contract manufacturer pickup to confirmed delivery and goods receipt in SAP. Most of the role is transportation: scheduling and routing shipments, managing carrier costs and keeping every movement recorded accurately. The role also supports Customs with classification, documentation and compliance work, and reports to the Director, Transportation & Customs Compliance.

What You’ll Be Working On

Transportation (primary focus)

Coordinate inbound freight from contract manufacturers (CMs): confirm ready dates, pallet counts and shipping documents, then schedule pickups.

Plan and book outbound shipments against due dates, working with the warehouse on ship-ready status and pickup appointments.

Pull freight estimates and quotes from carriers, comparing cost and transit time to pick the best option for each shipment.

Negotiate rates with carriers on spot and recurring lanes, and bring recommendations to the Director.

Schedule and route shipments across parcel, LTL and FTL; re-book quickly when a carrier rejects, misses or delays a load.

Create and update shipments in SAP, post Goods Receipts and Goods Issues, and keep delivery dates current.

Resolve quantity, PO and SAP discrepancies with CMs, the warehouse and Planning; escalate system issues to the right owner.

Track shipments to delivery, keep the Transportation Tracker current (ETD, ETA, actual delivery) and flag delays early.

Collect signed BOLs, proof of delivery and shipping documents, and hand complete cross-border paperwork to Customs.

Check carrier invoices and accessorial charges, flag discrepancies and file freight claims for loss or damage.

Customs and trade compliance (supporting)

Classify products and maintain the master classification file for new SKUs and duty rates, working with Merchandising on product launches.

Prepare commercial invoices and proformas not supported by SAP, and manage broker clearance requests through the Customs inbox.

Support country-of-origin certifications, free trade agreement documentation, drawback submissions and monthly duty forecasting.

Perform internal entry audits and keep classification rationale on file, escalating technical decisions to the Customs lead.

Working knowledge of freight documents: bill of lading, proof of delivery, packing list, commercial invoice.

Strong Excel skills: filters, lookups, pivot tables and keeping trackers clean.

Comfort working across two functions and shifting priorities between Transportation and Customs as volume requires.

Clear, professional written and phone communication with outside partners.

Preferred

Experience working with contract manufacturers or third-party suppliers on inbound freight.

Experience with a transportation management or shipment visibility platform.

Experience with cross-border (US/Canada) shipments and working with customs brokers.

Working knowledge of tariff classification, customs entries, country of origin or free trade agreement documentation.
