As a Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring safety and compliance within the built environment. Your expertise will contribute to innovative solutions that protect lives, property, and reputations across diverse industries. This position is integral to our Fire & Building Safety team, where you will collaborate with industry leaders to address complex safety challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain Professional Awareness: Stay updated on technical matters in the fire industry, assimilating and synthesising developing technical issues to provide timely updates and briefings
Guide Fire Engineering Professionals: Advise and deliver complex solutions for large construction engineering projects within leading consultancies, ensuring high standards of fire safety engineering.
Project Management: Take control of current and future projects, ensuring that financial targets are met and exceeded while developing existing relationships with key clients.
Drive Technical Excellence: Foster a culture of technical excellence and team engagement, becoming the go-to expert for developing key client relationships in this discipline.
Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert advice and solutions tailored to their needs.
Lead Discussions: Facilitate discussions with design teams, building control, and fire services to ensure seamless project execution.
Industry Engagement: Attend industry conferences to network and embrace emerging trends and best practices in fire safety engineering.
Supervise and Train: Mentor and supervise graduate engineers, fostering their professional development and integration into the team.
Requirements and Qualifications
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the following qualifications and experience are required:
Background: A strong background in fire engineering, preferably within a consultancy environment.
Education: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Fire Engineering or a related field, such as Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Status: Ideally a Chartered Engineer or actively working towards this status.
Independence: Ability to undertake works independently, demonstrating initiative and self-management.
Mentorship Skills: A desire and ability to mentor and manage junior professionals, contributing to their growth and success.
