The Challenge

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help lead technical direction across a major feature area or set of related systems at OneTrust. Staff Engineers determine their own approach on complex, often ambiguous assignments, and their technical judgment is trusted well beyond their immediate team.

Your Mission

Technical Leadership & Architecture

Lead design and architecture for major features or components, ensuring alignment with the broader system architecture.

Determine approach and methods independently on complex, ambiguous assignments without an established playbook.

Cross-Team Collaboration

Partner with other engineering teams, Product, and UX to shape solutions before implementation begins.

Build working relationships and technical credibility beyond your immediate team.

Quality & Standards

Establish and champion engineering best practices adopted by your team and beyond.

Mentorship

Mentor Senior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow their technical judgment and scope of ownership.

You Are/Have

Someone who determines methods and approach independently on new, complex assignments, and who is sought out by other engineers for technical guidance beyond your own team. You think in terms of systems and tradeoffs, not just individual tickets.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

8+ years of professional software engineering experience

Demonstrated track record leading technical initiatives that span multiple engineers or systems

Deep expertise in frontend and/or backend technologies relevant to OneTrust's platform, including cloud architecture experience

Extra Awesome

Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Devin, Windsurf, or similar) in a professional setting, with genuine enthusiasm for applying AI to accelerate and elevate day-to-day engineering work.
