The Opportunity at Komodo Health

Komodo Health's AI Platform and Services organization builds the platform every AI product at Komodo runs on: agent infrastructure, evals, data context, and the surfaces customers touch. Small pods build on shared primitives and ship in weeks.

Prototypes are how ideas move here. PMs, engineers, and forward deployed teams build them with modern tools, and they get shared constantly: in reviews, in Slack threads, and in front of customers. That changes what design is. Far more gets built than any design team could draw or review, and most of it is made by people who aren't designers. Without design built in, it drifts: one-off colors, off-scale type, a fourth version of the same modal. Reviewing every prototype doesn't scale, and it shouldn't have to.

This seat is the answer. You will encode Komodo's design language, taste, and patterns into the skills and tools everyone builds with, so every prototype and product looks and feels great, often without its builder knowing a system is doing the work. You will also design our hardest problems yourself, starting with what a product should look like when the software reasons: how it shows its work, cites its sources, and lets a person check and correct it.

This is one seat with reach across everything we build. Staff here means every builder starts from your skills and tools.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…

Put Komodo's design language on record (principles, type, color, motion, voice, and core patterns) and encoded it in skills and tools every builder uses by default, for prototypes and products alike.

Made the right output the easy one. Prototypes built without a designer in the room look and feel like Komodo, and the suite meets a quality bar you set, scored on every release the way we score AI output with evals.

Designed and shipped the interaction patterns for agentic work (plans, progress, sources, confidence, and correction) in our flagship and at least one other product, with measured gains in task success or adoption.

Designed and prototyped at least two flagship experiences yourself, and taken them from concept to GA.

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

Own the design language. Decide how Komodo products look, feel, and read, and write it down in a form both people and AI follow.

Encode taste into skills and tools. Build and maintain the skills, components, and templates people reach for when they work with AI. Treat them as a product: versioned, measured, and fixed when output drifts.

Design the hardest problems yourself. AI interfaces, dense analytic workflows, and new products. Prototype with AI tools, and use Figma when it is the faster tool.

Fix problems at the source. When you see the same miss twice, fix it in the skill or tool rather than the screen, so every builder gets the fix.

Make every builder better. PMs, engineers, and forward deployed teams share prototypes and ship products that look right because you are here, without waiting on you.

What you bring to Komodo Health:

Exceptional taste and craft. Visual, interaction, and content design at a level other designers learn from. Portfolio required, and we will ask what you would change in each piece.

Builds working prototypes. You will show us something you built, not only something you drew. You prototype real UI with AI tools and can fix a component in code yourself. The interview includes building.

AI native at design depth. You design with Claude or similar tools every day. You know how AI reads a skill, why its output drifts, and how to make the right answer the default. Using chat tools to work faster is the baseline everywhere, so it earns nothing here.

Built skills or systems others adopted. A design system, skill, component library, or toolkit that people outside your team used, with evidence it changed what shipped.

Designed AI products. Interfaces where AI does real work, including how it shows reasoning, sources, and uncertainty, and how a person checks it.

Staff scope. 8+ years in product design, including leading design for a complex B2B, data, or analytics product from first prototype to scale.

Excellent written communication. Your guidance gets followed because it is clear, by people and by AI.

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

Healthcare or regulated data experience (claims, EHR, patient journeys, provider analytics).

Data visualization for dense analytic workflows.

A front-end engineering background.

Taking a design system through a platform or brand transition.
