The Role
The Honest Company has kicked off a search for a Staff Accountant! You’ll be responsible for processing accounting transactions, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, compiling and analyzing financial reports, providing ad hoc analysis, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and providing general accounting support to the Accounting Department. We’re looking for a highly-organized, accountable (pun intended) team player who operates with efficiency, urgency, and discipline.
What you’ll do:
Prepare journal entries and underlying analysis to support the month-end close process
Reconcile data from various sources and systems to the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting
Perform various general ledger accounting tasks, including but not limited to recording month-end accruals, prepaid amortizations, fixed asset transactions, expense reclasses, and other adjusting journal entries
Prepare various deliverables to support the preparation of the financial statements and respond to requests for information from business functions
Investigate variances by preparing monthly balance sheet and P&L flux analyses to provide clear, insightful commentary to accounting leadership
Perform research for technical accounting purposes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business drivers and ensure accurate financial results
Compile analysis/reports for the quarterly reviews, annual audit, tax return preparation or other audits
Prepare/assist with any other ad hoc analysis or analytics as needed
Identify opportunities for AI/automation initiative
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
Solid understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, month-end close processes and financial analysis tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, Vlookups, and pivot tables
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach
Bonus points for:
Public company experience at a National firm
CPA or actively pursuing CPA designation (strongly preferred)
Experience in a CPG or inventory-based business
Experience with top tier ERP and related reporting applications
Experience with SOX/internal controls in a public company environment
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $68,000 - $84,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
