Senior Software Engineer - Autonomous Ops & Maintenance (ATOM)
The Autonomous Ops & Maintenance (ATOM)Team is developing an innovative platform that leverages artificial intelligence and automated systems to empower engineering groups in safely executing complex operations and software maintenance. Their primary objective is to minimize repetitive toil while delivering the precise visibility, oversight, and trust necessary to run automated solutions in mission-critical environments.
Consider it an intelligent virtual collaborator operating alongside development and infrastructure engineers, directly offloading routine operational overhead that currently requires manual intervention.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us design and scale our foundational architecture. In this role, you will synthesize vast technical datasets into rich structured knowledge, engineer AI-driven components capable of analyzing intricate operational workflows, and construct highly reliable systems to execute automated modifications seamlessly.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You’ll Do:
Lead a greenfield initiative from inception to scale, shaping foundational product architecture, engaging directly with users to refine early concepts
Build mission-critical solutions that customers depend on daily
Build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions running in multi-tenant environments
Who You Are:
You have 6+ years of experience
You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
You are proficient in Go
You are comfortable building and operating production services end to end: You will independently own features and components, work through ambiguous technical problems, and be responsible for the reliability, observability, and operational quality of what you ship
You have experience with large scale distributed systems
You have demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output
Bonus Point: You have experience with Kubernetes, workflow orchestration systems, or building AI agents
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
