Senior Product Specialist, Lamina
Lamina, a West Monroe Company, is seeking a Senior Product Specialist to shape product capabilities for loan syndications and participations. As the subject-matter expert for origination, loan sales, and deal management, you will translate buy-side and sell-side lending practices into intuitive solutions and partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Implementation, Sales, and Client Success from discovery through launch.
About the Job
Loan syndication platforms facilitate the sharing of syndication and participation deals and collaboration among financial institutions throughout the loan process, from origination to closing and servicing. The platform must meet the needs of financial institution users while promoting standardization across deal types.
As the Senior Product Specialist, you will serve as the subject-matter expert for Lamina’s Origination capabilities, helping define how the platform supports loan origination, deal structuring, and distribution. You will partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to translate real-world lending practices into intuitive product capabilities.
We seek a candidate with deep expertise in loan syndication and participation processes, particularly upfront loan sales, relationship management, and deal origination. Financial-services software product experience is preferred; at minimum, you should have worked directly with technical teams and understand the software development lifecycle. Your industry expertise will guide product strategy and detailed platform requirements.
What You Will Do
Serve as Lamina’s subject-matter expert for loan participation and syndication sales and deal-management processes across sell-side and buy-side institutions.
Translate industry workflows into product requirements, user stories, business rules, data definitions, use cases, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios reflecting real-world lending practices and edge cases.
Define full-lifecycle requirements for data, documents, approvals, communications, controls, auditability, deal setup, lender targeting, opportunity distribution, confidentiality, access management, data rooms, due diligence, and participant communications.
Represent buy-side requirements for opportunity screening, credit evaluation, internal approvals, decision tracking, indications of interest, commitments, participant selection, allocation methodologies, oversubscription management, closing, funding readiness, and exception management.
Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Design, Implementation, Sales, and Client Success to validate, deliver, and continuously improve product capabilities.
Lead customer discovery and product-validation sessions with syndication, participation sales, credit, legal, relationship-management, and operations teams.
Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve data quality, reduce transaction risk, and replace fragmented email and spreadsheet workflows.
Contribute to product strategy and roadmap decisions based on market needs, customer feedback, competitive gaps, integration requirements, product analytics, and platform performance.
Support Lamina implementations by helping clients improve processes and realize the value of the platform.
Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.
What You Will Bring
Eight or more years of experience in loan syndications, participation sales, capital markets, commercial lending, institutional loan acquisition, credit, or a related field.
Direct sell-side, buy-side, or combined experience with syndicated or participated loan transactions, from opportunity preparation through allocation and closing.
Hands-on knowledge of the data, documents, communications, approvals, commitments, controls, operational risks, and exceptions involved in multi-lender transactions.
Experience working with syndication and participation sales teams, relationship managers, credit officers, legal counsel, operations personnel, and technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience collaborating with product, technology, implementation, or process-improvement teams.
Experience at a bank, Farm Credit institution, specialty lender, commercial finance company, or institutional lender is preferred.
Experience with commercial and industrial, agricultural, commercial real estate, sponsor finance, project finance, or other complex commercial credit products is preferred.
Familiarity with nCino, SyndTrak, DebtDomain, Loan IQ, ACBS, AFS, Intralinks, Datasite, APIs, integrations, data mapping, or comparable platforms is preferred.
Product Owner, Business Analyst, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, or process-improvement experience is beneficial but not required.
Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
Ability to travel 25 to 50%.
A commitment to inclusion and diversity, and openness to new ideas and perspectives.
Ability to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.
