About the Role

Monks is seeking a seasoned Senior Motion Artist / Editor to join an embedded creative team producing rapid-turn editorial, digital, and marketing content. Operating on-site alongside senior client stakeholders, this role is built for a motion-first craftsperson with high autonomy, executive presence, and an end-to-end maker mindset.

Your core foundation is elite motion design, animation craft, and editorial storytelling: pacing, kinetic typography, visual rhythm, and audio synchronization. From that base, you lean naturally into multidisciplinary execution - comfortable stepping into Figma to tweak layouts, adjust vector elements, and cut sound or footage to push an asset across the finish line rather than waiting on handoffs. You bring the creative maturity to hold the room with stakeholders, articulate narrative and animation decisions, and navigate changing requirements while maintaining an uncompromising standard of craft within established brand systems.

Employment Type, Duration & Work Location

This is a temporary, full-time position expected to run through March 31, 2027.

This role requires working onsite at our client's office in Menlo Park, CA, 4–5 days per week.

Responsibilities:

Drive End-to-End Motion & Video Delivery: Own deliverables from brief through final render and export; lead primarily with animation and editing while fluidly handling light design adjustments, minor sound design, and color finishing to produce turnkey assets.

Lead Motion Craft & Narrative Pacing: Transform static design assets, brand guidelines, and raw footage into dynamic, high-polish visual stories with exceptional attention to kinetic typography, transitions, and timing.

Lead Stakeholder Interactions: Act as a strategic creative partner to client leads - presenting motion tests, articulating editorial decisions, and resolving ambiguity independently in real time.

Leverage AI as a Production Multiplier: Integrate approved generative AI video tools, AI-assisted editing workflows, and model-driven asset generation into your daily pipeline to accelerate production and expand visual possibilities.

Animate Complex Technical Narratives: Translate technical product flows, abstract concepts, UI interactions, and data charts into clear, fluid, and engaging motion graphics.

Bridge Motion and Static Design: Work fluidly within Figma and design systems, pulling assets independently and making necessary layout or vector adjustments without creating pipeline bottlenecks.

Build Scalable Motion Toolkits: Establish reusable motion components, animation presets, and templates that streamline rapid-turn production across the distributed team.

Execute Sound Design & Audio Finishing: Precisely synchronize animation and cuts to voiceover, sound effects, and music, applying basic audio mixing to deliver broadcast-ready audio.

Uphold Rigorous Self-QA: Maintain strict quality control over your own project files, timing, framing, audio levels, brand compliance, and multi-platform aspect ratios prior to review.

Ensure Operational Discretion: Maintain absolute confidentiality when handling unreleased product announcements, sensitive brand IP, and strategic materials.

About You

The essentials:

6–8+ years of experience in motion design, video editing, or post-production within an agency, tech company, or high-velocity in-house studio.

Motion-First Craft Mastery: Deep expertise in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and modern motion workflows, with a refined instinct for kinetic typography, visual hierarchy, composition, and editorial pacing.

Multidisciplinary Design Capabilities: Practical working fluency in Figma and static design fundamentals; ability to refine assets, adapt layouts, and create supporting graphic elements directly when needed.

AI-Native Tooling Fluency: Hands-on experience integrating modern AI creative tools (such as generative video/image tools, automated rotoscoping, voice/audio enhancement, and AI-assisted editing) into daily post-production workflows.

Stakeholder Maturity & Autonomy: Strong executive presence with a demonstrated track record of presenting work directly to client leads, guiding feedback sessions, and driving creative decisions independently.

Technical & Product Storytelling: Proven strength in animating technical UI, product features, infographics, and data visualizations clearly and dynamically.

Motion Systems Fluency: Experience building and working with brand motion guidelines, reusable MOGRTs, and component toolkits to ensure brand consistency at speed.

Poise Under Rapid Turnarounds: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple rapid-turn deliverables simultaneously, pivoting quickly when priorities shift without compromising craft.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with proactive cross-functional collaboration habits.

Working Model

This is an in-person, client-facing role embedded with the client team. The Senior Motion Artist / Editor will collaborate with a distributed creative team operating across multiple locations and shifts, with availability during core client working hours and flexibility around urgent priorities.
