Senior Mechanical Engineer - Motorized/Treats

New Product Development · Needham, MA · On-site

At SharkNinja, our mission is to positively impact people's lives every day, in every home around the world. That takes thinkers and tinkerers, designers and doers, creators and number crunchers — people who make things they love. As we grow, we're adding a Senior Mechanical Engineer to our global team.

The role

Our NPD team builds the pipeline of new technologies behind SharkNinja products. We're looking for a creative problem solver with an intuitive grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals — someone equally at home hacking together a prototype in the lab or analyzing test results, and drawn to the tough engineering problems that come with being first to market.

This is a hands-on job for a curious, creative engineer who wants to stretch a wide range of talents and make a high-performing team stronger.

What you'll do

Design and develop consumer products from first concept through ongoing product support, inside our global development organization

Work daily with Engineering and Product Development to rapidly build understanding of systems, performance levers, and tradeoffs

Pull in teammates from other disciplines to brainstorm, solve problems, build proof-of-concept prototypes, and test them thoroughly

Guide and work closely with a team of mechanical engineers, including co-ops and interns

See your team's work come to life on store shelves, online, and in infomercials

What you bring

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

5+ years in design and development

A track record of turning enabling technologies into innovative products on the market

Strong analytical skills, a methodical mindset, sharp attention to detail, and a relentless drive to find potential problems and own their resolution

Prototyping skill: 3D printing, machining, hand tools, and building accurate, robust assemblies

Lab experience running controlled experiments on things you designed and built, using a range of test equipment and instrumentation

CAD proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo

Organization, plus Excel, Minitab, or MATLAB (or similar) to turn test data into learnings

Clear communication — explaining working principles, translating data into design implications, and making recommendations to technical and non-technical colleagues alike

Genuine enjoyment of building meaningful professional relationships with colleagues

Because the work is hands-on and team-based, this role is in person at our Needham, MA office

Nice to have

Understanding of thermodynamics

Experience designing and executing experimental test plans to guide design decisions

Comfort multitasking and shifting priorities quickly without losing sight of long-term goals

Applied engineering experience at a consumer products or consulting company

Experience with analog/digital electronics, related test equipment, and small-appliance components — sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs
