OVERVIEW:

A detailed-oriented, passionate, and dynamic leader is needed to be an integral part of our product development teams, ensuring that all of our new designs are safe, meet retailer requirements, and comply with all laws and regulations for the countries where sold.  In this position, you will experience unparalleled collaboration with many functions of the organization – Design Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, Creative, ID, Quality, Manufacturing, Legal, International, and Senior Executives. You will be interacting with external business partners – certification and test agencies, suppliers, factories, and international distributors, offering you exposure and interaction unlike any other role in the organization. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring delivery of products to market that are free of unnecessary risk and deliver delightful experiences for consumers.

Lead development of certification plans for new product designs

Design initiatives related to team participation in market surveillance activities

Evaluate marketplace and consumer events for safety risks

Manage and conduct design and construction reviews for risk analysis and mitigation

Participate in DFMEA activities to ensure successful execution

Serve as the essential source of knowledge and expertise for all safety and compliance necessities

Act as project manager for safety and compliance related activities

Lead activities surrounding identification and communication of market access requirements

Prepare and present executive review updates on team activities related to NPD projects

Act as principal approver for all safety, compliance, and marketing collateral

Serve as lead for international product extensions for EU, UK and/or rest or world programs

Manage and coach direct reports to continuously drive high performance

Participate in global talent development programs

Participate as a corporate representative in standards development committees and trade associations

HYBRID - This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week onsite at our headquarters in Needham, MA

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree ideally in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

5 or more years of compliance or design related experience of consumer or commercial electromechanical products

Experience supervising engineering or test personnel

Knowledge of regulatory standard and/or governmental regulations

Experience with facilitating or participating in DFMEA sessions

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

Ability to multi-task, maintaining a continuous comprehensive understanding of project status

Deliver creative and technically sound solutions to complex problems

Analytical operations skills seeking to drive continuous improvement initiatives

Comfortable pushing back on stakeholders in pursuit of product safety and compliance requirements - able to collaborate and compromise where appropriate

Comfortable operating independently - developing project plans within area of expertise

Bring skills in communicating complex technical information to audiences with varying technical understanding

Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, demonstrating comfort and confidence in presenting to and communicating with colleagues and superiors

Knowledge and understanding of consumer product and electrical home appliance standards or transferable industry experience

10-15% travel

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Pay Range

$130,000—$159,500 USD
