Senior Mechanical Engineer - Haircare
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Haircare
Needham, MA
Build the Products People Reach for Every Morning
Personal care is one of SharkNinja's fastest-growing categories — and the Shark Engineering team is at the center of it. We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to help design and develop the next generation of haircare products: things that work better, feel better, and genuinely improve people's daily routines.
This is a hands-on role with real creative latitude. You'll work across the full product lifecycle — from initial concept through mass production — on a team that moves fast, prototypes early, and takes consumer experience seriously at every stage.
What You'll Do
You'll be a core contributor on a cross-functional engineering team, owning design problems from first principles through manufacturable solutions.
Define product architecture on innovative new haircare platforms, collaborating closely with electrical, ID, and product development teams
Design parts and assemblies for injection molding, sheet metal, extrusion, machining, and other manufacturing processes
Build and iterate prototypes for design reviews, performance testing, and consumer validation
Integrate electrical systems into mechanical designs, evaluating trade-offs and making meaningful design decisions
Design and execute DOEs to develop a rigorous, first-principles understanding of key performance variables
Tear down, debug, and analyze electro-mechanical appliances to identify root causes and improvement opportunities
Source and validate critical components with global manufacturing and vendor partners
Research emerging technologies to help shape SharkNinja's future product roadmap
What You Bring
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
4–8+ years of experience in product design and development, working within real cost and manufacturing constraints
Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Creo (Creo preferred)
Strong knowledge of injection molding DFM, sheet metal forming, 3D printing, and laser cutting
Experience creating engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
Solid grasp of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
Sharp analytical skills and a genuine instinct for identifying problems before they become issues
Comfortable switching gears quickly and thriving in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Why This Team
You'll be joining a category that's growing fast, on a team with the freedom to experiment and the resources to execute. The products you work on will reach consumers quickly — and you'll see the impact of your engineering decisions in the market, not just in a lab. If you want to do meaningful work on products people use every day, this is the role.
