Senior Developer Community Manager

Developers build trust in a company through the people they meet and the experiences they have with it. We’re looking for someone to shape those experiences for 1Password.

You’ll lead our developer events and in-person community strategy: choosing where we show up, creating gatherings worth returning to, and building relationships that continue after everyone leaves the room. You’ll own the strategy and the details, from deciding whether a conference is worth the investment to welcoming developers at an event you helped produce.

You’ll start with San Francisco and New York City and help expand the program to other cities over time.

How we’re using AI today

Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.

This is a remote opportunity within the US, with a preference for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.

What you can expect:

- Shape our events strategy. Build a thoughtful calendar of conferences, meetups, and 1Password-hosted events. Recommend where we should sponsor, speak, participate, or host our own gathering.

- Own conference and sponsorship decisions. Evaluate opportunities, manage organizer relationships and budgets, partner with our events team on execution, and use results to guide future investment.

- Create developer events people want to attend. Plan and run meetups, workshops, dinners, and other gatherings. Own the experience from format and speakers through venue, invitations, and on-site execution.

- Build community between events. Create ways for developers to stay connected, return, contribute, and bring others in. Treat each event as the beginning of a relationship.

- Show up in person. Be an active host and 1Password representative. You’re comfortable handling the practical details on site and having substantive conversations with developers.

- Connect events to the broader DevRel program. Partner with our Principal Developer Advocate on talks, technical content, and experiences that give developers a reason to engage.

- Work closely with marketing and sales. Build useful follow-up paths, share what you’re learning from the community, and measure how events contribute to relationships, adoption, and pipeline.

- Tell the story as it happens. Capture photos, short videos, and takeaways that help extend the reach of our events on LinkedIn and X.

What we're looking for:

- Experience building developer events or communities, ideally at a developer tools, infrastructure, or technology company.

- A track record of growing an engaged community, beyond increasing registrations or attendance.

- Strong event production skills. You know how to make an event feel welcoming, useful, and well run, and you can handle the unexpected on site.

- Experience managing sponsorships, vendors, and budgets, with sound judgment about where to invest.

- Comfort working with developer advocates, marketing, and sales to turn in-person engagement into lasting relationships.

- Strong relationships and communication skills with developers, organizers, speakers, partners, and internal teams.

- The ability to work independently, prioritize well, and travel as the program grows.

Bonus points if you have existing relationships in the San Francisco or New York developer communities, or experience working in security, identity, or infrastructure.

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $133,000 USD and $186,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
