Regional Sales Manager- SLED (Chicago or Texas)
REMOTE- Chicago IL or Texas Area
Position Summary
ExtraHop is redefining cyber defense and network operations for the AI era. As an innovator and leader in Network Detection and Response (NDR) and Network Performance Management (NPM), we help State, Local, and Education (SLED) institutions secure their transition to the "Agentic Enterprise" by defending against AI-powered threats, streamlining operations, and delivering full visibility across their network and AI estate. We turn wire data into "Decision-Grade Intelligence"—the high-fidelity context that enables SOC and NOC teams to detect threats, optimize performance, investigate faster, and respond at machine speed. If you are an experienced sales professional who thrives in the security and networking markets and can help SLED customers navigate the transition toward an Agentic SOC and Agentic NOC, we want to hear from you.
This key position requires an individual who can rapidly acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of ExtraHop’s vision, products, technologies, competitive offerings, and prevailing industry trends relevant to the public sector. Your primary responsibility will be to significantly increase revenue across Central US SLED accounts by identifying, recruiting, and developing net-new opportunities with channel partners, SLED-focused resellers, and integrators.
Key Responsibilities
Consistently meet and exceed assigned sales targets by securing new SLED accounts (State Agencies, Local Government, K-12, and Higher Education) and expanding revenue within existing public sector customer installations.
Proactively identify and qualify prospects through targeted outreach, lead follow-up, and in-person meetings with SLED decision-makers (e.g., State CIOs/CISOs, Network/IT Directors, University IT Leaders, Municipal Managers).
Align with senior SLED executives to understand their mission-critical business requirements, decision-making processes, unique budget cycles, and funding mechanisms.
Articulate how AI Modernization requires decision-grade intelligence to drive security and operational resilience across public sector networks.
Help SLED customers transition from reactive, disconnected alerts to proactive, autonomous workflows within their SOC and NOC environments.
Sell the platform's unique ability to provide comprehensive visibility and health monitoring across the entire AI and network estate, including traffic patterns and AI-model interactions.
Demonstrate how ExtraHop serves as the foundational "source of truth" for packet-level insights, network performance, and threat intelligence for both human teams and autonomous AI agents.
Identify opportunities to solve modern operational and security challenges, including network blind spots, AI-powered attacks, identity-based threats, and shadow AI usage.
Prepare and rigorously implement strategic territory plans, leveraging key SLED contract vehicles and identifying business growth opportunities.
Collaborate closely with SLED-focused resellers, system integrators, field sales engineers, and management throughout the sales cycle, including opportunity registration and accurate revenue forecasting.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of five years’ experience in technology sales with a consistent track record of exceeding quotas, including a minimum of three years dedicated specifically to SLED security and network solutions sales.
Deep understanding of the modern SOC and NOC landscape, specifically the shift toward Agentic SOC/NOC workflows and runtime asset/network visibility.
Proven ability to sell NDR, NPM, or complex network and security solutions that integrate across existing IT infrastructure.
Ability to articulate the operational risks and performance impact associated with AI adoption, as well as the importance of network visibility across the AI estate.
Demonstrated technical acumen to articulate ExtraHop's combined security and network performance value proposition in a differentiated and compelling manner to SLED audiences.
Existing senior-level relationships across SLED accounts within the Central US territory.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills essential for navigating the SLED procurement landscape.
Solid understanding of enterprise networking technologies (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization) as applied in SLED environments.
Ability to travel up to 50% to support SLED customer engagements and regional public sector events.
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-stress environments with predictable, reliable attendance.
