Radiation Effects Engineer

As a Radiation Effects Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the electrical survivability of our spacecraft by analyzing, designing, and testing robust electronic systems. This position requires hands-on experience in circuit design, component validation, and mitigating radiation effects for harsh aerospace environments.

Role

Support the electrical architecture and design of fault-tolerant systems optimized for radiation environments

Actively participate in core electrical design, schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, hardware bring-up, and laboratory testing

Coordinate and execute electrical radiation testing campaigns to upscreen COTS and automotive-grade components

Develop fault-tolerant systems & operations into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team

Assist in recruiting and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related technical field (Physics, Nuclear Engineering) with a focus on electronics

A passion for hardware development, including hands-on electrical circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment

Strong foundation in electrical design principles, including component selection, power distribution, and signal integrity

Direct experience analyzing, designing, and testing electronic circuits for radiation effects

Experience in testing and debugging complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.)

Experience engineering fault-tolerant, high-reliability electrical hardware architectures

US Citizenship or Green Card

Bonus

Experience testing electrical designs for space or high-radiation environments

Advanced understanding of semiconductor physics and radiation interactions

Experience configuring electrical test setups and running measurement campaigns at radiation test facilities

Proficiency with ECAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer) and familiarity with MCAD (Solidworks)

The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.

Base Salary

$120,000—$145,000 USD
