Product Manager - Identity, Suspensions & Closures
About the role
At Chime, we believe in the power of our product to help people lead healthier financial lives. The Trust & Safety team spans the full member lifecycle and is responsible for keeping our members’ accounts safe, ensuring uninterrupted access to their money, and minimizing risk and fraud loss across the platform.
We are looking for a Product Manager to lead strategy and execution for the Member Identity, Suspensions & Closures team. This team owns the core identity and account lifecycle capabilities that determine how Chime responds when a member is suspended, closed, re-enabled, or otherwise restricted.
This is a high leverage role at the intersection of member experience, trust, risk, compliance, and platform infrastructure. A lifecycle decision can protect a member from harm, prevent fraud, determine whether they can access their money, or create a lasting impression of whether Chime is fair and understandable.
This role is available in either San Francisco, CA or Chicago, IL, and candidates may be based in either location.
The base salary for this role depends on the position location:
San Francisco, CA: The base salary range is $183,000 to $205,000.
Chicago, IL: The base salary range is $165,000 to $185,000.
Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, a competitive equity package, and comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors such as location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
What this team owns
The Member Identity Suspensions & Closures squad’s charter is to accelerate development of future Chime products by simplifying core identity and account lifecycle.
The team’s primary domain is the user-level lifecycle: the policies, decisions, orchestration, and experiences that govern suspension, closure, and re-enablement across a member’s relationship with Chime. The team also serves as a critical partner to product teams introducing new account types or lifecycle behaviors, helping them integrate safely with shared Chime patterns instead of creating one-off flows.
This team operates across Identity, Risk, OMX, Compliance, Legal, Accounts, Member Experience, Communications, and product teams across Chime. The role requires both strong product judgment and the ability to create clarity when ownership crosses organizational boundaries.
In this role, you can expect to
Set the vision and roadmap for a reliable, member-centered identity lifecycle across suspension, closure, re-enablement, and related restriction states.
Define lifecycle policy and decision requirements with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and OMX, balancing fraud prevention, regulatory obligations, operational needs, and member impact.
Design orchestration across products and services so a user-level action produces predictable outcomes across every relevant account, product, and partner.
Create a scalable integration model for new products, including clear requirements for APIs, lifecycle states, closure reasons, re-enablement, funds flow, communications, support, and partner synchronization.
Improve the member experience at moments of restriction or closure by making actions understandable, targeted, consistent, and recoverable when appropriate.
Improve agent and internal tooling so support and Risk teams can see the current state, understand the reason, follow approved procedures, and escalate exceptions effectively.
Lead complex cross-functional programs involving Identity, Risk, product engineering, platform engineering, Member Experience, Communications, Bank Partnerships, Compliance, and Legal.
Build measurement and operating mechanisms for lifecycle reliability, member recovery, false-positive impact, support contacts, policy efficacy, exception rates, and time-to-resolution.
Own the response to ambiguous or high-severity lifecycle issues, driving root-cause analysis, clear ownership, and durable fixes rather than one-off workarounds.
Use data, research, and member insights to identify where current policies or experiences create avoidable harm, friction, or operational burden.
To thrive in these roles, you have
6+ years of experience as a Product Manager
A track record of shaping hard, ambiguous problems rather than just executing against a roadmap.
You can articulate a compelling vision for how identity and account lifecycle should work, and build alignment across engineering, risk, compliance, and leadership.
The ability to translate complex risk and platform challenges into clear strategy and execution, and to move fluently between member journeys, policy behavior, and platform capabilities.
Experience operating in systems with significant policy, operational, and data dependencies.
Strong analytical skills and a track record of turning data and user insight into product decisions, with particular sensitivity to how restriction and closure moments affect member trust and retention.
Deep curiosity, a strong sense of ownership, and comfort in a fast-growing, cross-functional environment.
A passion for helping members lead healthy financial lives.
