Product Designer II, Design Systems
The Design Systems team at Coinbase plays a critical role in executing on our vision to create more economic freedom for the world, and is at the center of execution for products across the entirety of the company. Join the Design Systems team within the Consumer & Business group as a Product Designer II and shape the foundation that powers every product Coinbase ships to millions of customers. This team owns the Coinbase Design System (CDS), the single system responsible for delivering quality, consistency, and trust at scale across every experience we build. You'll develop scalable components and patterns that help customers - from first-time crypto users to advanced traders - complete their tasks with ease and confidence, working closely with Design and Engineering across Platform and Consumer orgs to make the complex feel simple.
What you'll do:
Own the iterative improvement of design system components and patterns, ensuring they scale across web and mobile products
Drive new system features from ideation through prototyping, user testing, and production delivery
Partner with Design and Engineering teams across the company to document, define, and evangelize scalable design patterns
Lead participation in design reviews, seeking specific feedback and incorporating relevant input to raise the quality bar
Execute on the design systems product roadmap and contribute to long-term systems strategy
Required Skills and Experience:
3+ years of professional product design experience, including a focus specifically on design systems
Demonstrated experience designing scalable components and systems for consumer-facing web and mobile products
Proficiency with AI design tools (e.g., Figma Make, Vercel V0, Cursor) applied to systems-level work
Expert-level Figma skills including prototyping design system components within product screens
Proven track record collaborating cross-functionally with engineers, user researchers, and product teams to ship systems at scale
Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):
$144,500—$170,000 USD
