As Plaid’s Public Policy Manager for the UK and EU, you’ll lead our policy work across both regions, partnering closely with our Head of Policy and Head of Europe Legal and Compliance. You’ll advocate for a secure, consumer-friendly financial ecosystem where people can use their financial data to access the products and services they need. The work spans some of the most important and fast-moving issues in financial services, from cybersecurity and privacy to data use and competition.

We’re looking for a resourceful, strategic thinker who reads political and regulatory dynamics well and finds a way forward. You’ll translate technical and business concepts into clear, actionable policy positions that help grow Plaid’s business and benefit our customers and the consumers they serve. If you’re high-agency, creative in your approach, and known for exceptional follow-through, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

- Build and own relationships with regulators, government officials, and legislators across the UK and EU, as well as consumer groups, trade associations, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.

- Represent Plaid in industry working groups and policy forums on open banking, open finance, smart data, payments, security, and privacy, making Plaid’s case and spotting opportunities to shape the conversation.

- Lead research and analysis that shapes Plaid’s positions on key issues and informs our regulatory engagement and advocacy.

- Own the planning and execution of Plaid’s UK and EU policy agenda, coordinating projects with internal and external stakeholders.

- Partner with teams across Legal, Compliance, Communications, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Sales on shared initiatives.

- Stay ahead of emerging policy trends in the UK and EU, flagging risks and opportunities for Plaid’s business and recommending strategies for engagement.

Qualifications

- 6+ years of experience in UK or EU financial services policy, for example at a regulator such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), in government (such as HM Treasury), in Parliament, at a financial services trade association, or in-house.

- Strong existing relationships with policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, trade associations, think tanks, and consumer groups in the UK or EU.

- A proven track record of advocacy and policy influence within financial services.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders, including those across the political spectrum.

- A resourceful, adaptable, and collaborative approach, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

- Curiosity about product, technology, and AI.

Nice-to-Haves

- Policy experience across both the UK and EU.

- Experience working on open banking, open finance, payments, or data-sharing policy.

- Based in London.
