Braze is the leading customer engagement platform, helping brands build personalized messaging experiences across push, email, in-app, and more, at massive scale. We use a diverse technology stack rooted in Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, Kubernetes, and more.

Developer Acceleration is a brand-new team inside Engineering. Our job is to take Braze's infrastructure primitives, like deployment, provisioning, and testing, and turn them into fast, self-serve paths so engineers can build, test, and ship without stitching multiple systems together themselves. We also own the ramps our engineers use to build and deploy AI tooling internally, including the frameworks and guardrails that let Braze build and run its own AI agents safely.

As a Platform Software Engineer, you'll help build both sides of that mission from the ground up. This team is only a few weeks old, so you'll help shape how it works, not just what it ships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Turn Braze's infrastructure primitives, like deployment, provisioning, and testing, into simple, self-serve paths so engineers can build, test, and ship without stitching multiple systems together themselves

Build the frameworks and guardrails that let engineering teams deploy internally-built AI agents safely, including governance that controls what an agent can access and do

Partner with Braze's engineering teams to define infrastructure-as-a-service primitives, build monitoring and alerting that catches issues early, and help Braze meet its enterprise-grade SLAs

Provide the opinionated abstractions, tooling, and guardrails that let engineering teams use platform primitives safely, and keep improving the observability and everyday ergonomics of the tools they depend on

This team doesn't run a formal on-call rotation yet. As one stands up, you'll help shape it, backed by Braze's dedicated platform support team who already absorb most day-two firefighting

WHO YOU ARE

This is a software and developer tooling role, not a systems administration role. If most of your experience is deep infrastructure work, heavy Terraform ownership, or cluster administration, with less time spent building the software layer on top, this probably isn't the right next step for you.

5+  years of experience building developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, or similar software. This is not an entry-level or new-grad role

Comfortable with Kubernetes as something you build on top of and deploy to, not something you spend your day administering

You care more about good service and software design than which language you're writing in. A growing share of code today gets written by AI tooling, so design judgment matters more than raw output

You've built or explored developer platform integrations such as GitHub Apps, internal CLIs, or MCP (Model Context Protocol), and you use AI tools in your own workflow with a clear point of view on where they help and where they don't

You think about systems: interfaces, boundaries, edge cases, and failure modes

You collaborate and document well across global, remote teams, and you'd rather fix something broken than walk past it

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $104,000 and $176,040/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $116,000 and $195,600/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, this role qualifies for a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that you will own a piece of our company.
