Middle Software Engineer (Java)

About the Client

A major Brazilian financial institution specializing in investment banking, wealth management, and corporate lending. The customer develops secure digital banking platforms and financial solutions to serve a diverse global client base.

What You’ll Do

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Java with a focus on performance, scalability, and resilience.

Build and maintain microservices using Spring Boot and Quarkus.

Support integrations and customizations within the Nasdaq Calypso ecosystem.

Develop event-driven solutions leveraging AWS services and distributed architectures.

Work with Amazon SQS, SNS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.

Design and improve observability practices, including logging, metrics, monitoring, and distributed tracing.

Participate in architecture discussions, technical design, code reviews, and engineering decision-making.

Contribute to automation, continuous improvement, and engineering efficiency initiatives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile Scrum environment.

Utilize AI-enabled development tools where appropriate to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency.

What You Bring

Proven mid-level professional software engineering experience with a strong backend development focus.

Strong proficiency in Java.

Hands-on experience developing applications with Spring Boot and Quarkus.

Strong experience designing and building microservices.

Experience working with distributed and event-driven architectures.

Hands-on experience with AWS services, including: Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway.

Knowledge of observability practices, including metrics, logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing.

Experience working in Agile environments, particularly Scrum.

Required: Experience using AI-powered engineering tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools.

Nice to have

Experience with reactive programming frameworks such as Mutiny or Project Reactor.

Experience supporting financial markets, capital markets, or investment banking applications.

Familiarity with Nasdaq Calypso or other enterprise trading platforms.

English level
